Anyone running a Tempest Plus with all the vents removed??

I have one vent plug left, Hole shot got better with each of the two that I have removed so far, Engine now “spins” to about 3600 RPMs when prop slips , while boat is getting on plane. I have Pantera III with 2.5 200 Merc. I am still turning better than 6000 on top end. 67 mph @ 5900 RPM 24 Tempest Plus PropShowdawg

I ran my 07 Puma with all the plugs removed and ended up going to one hole having a L plug in it. It seemed to come out of the hole better. Sounds like for that combination you are doing pretty darn good. Judd Lasiter

I have an 06 2.5 200 on my classic and I am running with two plugs removed. Much better hole shot. I tried removing the third and I have so much prop slip I was hitting the rev limiter. I could not get on plane. Anyhow, that is my experience with it.

where do you get these plugs at? my prop has all 4 removed from it. it used to get up on plane like nothing and get into the low 70s but now it has major prop slip when i coming out of the hole. it is a 2000 200hp merc v6 on a 2000 pantera classic. my prop is a quicksilver laser2 23p.

Not sure about that particular prop, but plugs for the tempest/trophy props can be purchased from any mercury dealer. Check with a dealer and see if you can find the plugs. KentKent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax

Any Merc dealer will have them but I am not sure the Laser ever had PVS plug holes drilled in them, just vent holes. I would suggest a 25 Trophy or 25 Tempest for that combination. You might prefer a 24 Trophy in some instances. The Laser doesnt have a great reputation for being a great high performance boat prop. On the smaller rigs it didnt seem to make as big of a difference. Good luck. JL

The Laser 2 does not have that option. It has “mandetory” vents.
