Good to see your making the jump to Humminbird… Your best bet may be to list your Lowrance unit on Craigs list.

Ive always been a Humminbird guy. My Ranger I sold past December had 898s on it. I just bought this Cougar yesterday and it has Lowrances on it.

As a person that has two 798HD Si units, keep your Lowrance.

I run the 798Ci SI and have NO problems. I had Lowrance units on previous boats, but came back to the Bird; they are so much simpler to use.

The Down image models are the issue with noise and we found the same true for all DI units in both brands.

Have had issues since day one with my HB 958c, and HB has been absolutely no help in resolving the issue. One of the poorest customer service experiences I have ever had. Extremely disappointed. I will be glad to move on to another brand with my new boat.

The bird units are easier/quicker to operate, Ill give them that. IMO, Lowrance has done a better job of fine tuning the SI/DI technology. If Im not in my boat with two 798 HD SI units Im in a buddys who has HDS 7 with SScan and I am more impressed with the imaging from those. Now, I believe bird does have far superior 2D sonar, switch fire is awesome. There are pluses and minuses to both And yes, I know for a fact I need to attend a sonar siminar, pretty sure Im not using my machines to there fullest.

I made a mistake on what My boat has on it. It is an Elite 5 DSI. I was not paying any attention to it when I baught it last week. I used it this weekend and I DO NOT LIKE IT. Dont get me wrong, it does the job. Has a great down scan image and great GPS map. But, I want sonar as well. I will sell it if someone wants or trade me. My front graph is a piece of junk X65.
