I beleive that Aurora said to use 3M protectant. You can go to their website or call and they will tell you. pant 2 Bob
It will be OK. Both Aurora and Deans ought to do a better job with this particular strap.
That strap goes around the cross member tucked up under the hull, or around the front of the fender.
I bought some t-clips from Deans for my cover. Theres a piece that screws to the top of the trailer fender, and a t looking hook that hangs on the strap. You connect the T to the mounted piece on the fender and tighten…no more going under the cross member. I dont have my boat here to take pics. I think they cost about $15 or so for the set…well worth the investment. I have 3 on each side and they work great.Advantages are taken, not handed out…

We prefer to connect those in the J bracket or engine saddle midsection mount holes. These are the two parts that slide into each other when you trim down. There will be four or five holes in the inside brace and one hole from memory in the outside saddle midsection piece. The S hooks of the straps can go into any of these as they gain the proper angle for your cover.
Ive read on this board about people having fit up problems with the Aurora cover. I got mine and it fit like a glove right out of the box. Exactly what I had hoped it would be. I do have one question. Are the ratcheting straps supposed to hook together, hook to your jack plate area, or the trailer? Just wondered where they were designed to go. I hooked them to the motor mount by the tilt cylinder.
The Aurora cover I have seems to be really well made and fits great. It is the Aqualon. That said I could not stand it if I had to leave it sit outside with the cover on.Dan
The Sunbrella Supreme material is the finest fabric for town and storage, they breathe and will not chafe the exterior. The Acrylic cover style is excellent for a moisture barrier and if our not towing they do fine, they have no venting and humidity can develop under the cover requiring removal for venting. Also, Go Jacks are what several use. You also can look at motorized movers to place it. For GoJacks, levating one wheel might be all you need on torsion axles. Harbor Freight is an excellent source for an inexpensive copy of a GoJack. BCBLast edited by Bass Cat Boats on September 21st, 2015, 1:05 pm, edited 1 time in total.
If you want the best protection for your boat, just get the Sunbrella Supreme strapless cover. Hands down, it is the best cover I have owned.
I have an aurora and it fits well but fades rapidly as I assume most do. it doesnt breathe very well and the water proofing is decent but there are probably better covers out there for the money

I have the Sunbrella Supreme, before that I had an Aurora cover. The Aurora cover is a heavier, less flexible fabric which will require some additional waterproofing at times. It worked well for a number of years, but Id say it doesnt breath to well and caused some issue with mold over time. Just as a note, Id suggest not towing long distances with that type of cover attached as the straps will vibrate and cause a little chaffing on the sides of the boat (Ive towed mine cross country at least 3 times now). I had the Aurora cover for about 8 years. The Subrella cover is much faster to put on and lighter. I had some trouble with the fit as they couldnt measure my actual boat, however they were very good to work with and eventually what I had them do was actually add a skirt to my cover with one strap in the bow and one in the back, so I could fit it even tighter to make water run off (I store my boat away from me and may only go use it once a month). The 4 straps and extra skirting in my situation is pretty handy I believe as it provides some extra sun protection on the side of the boat and I believe it will hold better in high cross winds (AKA hurricane/tropical storm). The Sunbrella cover I believe breaths better and does a better job of keeping the moisture out. Im not noticing any increased mold issues lately, but well wait and see as its very humid here, vs the time I was in Arizona. the Aurora cover will fade, but so far the Sunbrella Cover hasnt. One other thing I would look at, depending on your boat, is fender well covers. My boat, except on the seat where Ive tried cleaning the mold, looks like new. The fiberglass looks great, except for the wheel fenders on the side… they look awful due to sun damage. This happened to my first boat too.
