The Bing Lee BREAM Australian Open delivered another competitive days fishing on day 2. In sweltering heat, Sydey Harbour produced tough yet rewarding fishing to those anglers tuned in to the challenging conditions. Day one leaders Learys Rendering Service (Martin Richardson/Scott Lear) picked up where they left off, compiling a 5/5, 3.06kg bag. Last years champions Tackle Power (John Balcomb/Ben Godfrey) kept pace with a 5/5, 3.14kg bag. Can they do the double in 2009? The days big mover was Team Bass Cat boats (Wayne Reed/Geg Beattie). With the tournaments biggest bag of 5/5, 3.61kg, Team Bass Cat moved from 17th to outright 3rd. Will they make a final day charge to take the title? Day three promises to live up to all expectations. Since I am confident I am not the only person stumped. What is a Bream (no you local laugh riots not our local bluegills I guess) in Australia? Post a picture, how big to they get. What is considered a big stringer. I thought the harbour was saltwater? What do you use for bait?I take it you have the only BCB in Australia, what is a “normal” boat?What other kinds of fish, besides baramundi (which I have heard of and I think is what you are holding in the avatar) do you fish for in tournaments?John

There are a few BCB variations in Australia. One was dropped there from a Yacht where it was offloaded by the Yachts crane. There are several P2 models there from those prior years back. Then Kim has started to import boats as a distributor in Australia. The previous boats were taken there by residents and the one an Oklahoma oil family. They are mostly used in salt water also. BCB

They are saltwater fish,they can grow to about 5lbs but the average size is 2.0lbs and a very strong fighter. All the comps are plastics or hard body lures only.The fish iam holding in the avatar picture is a barra they grow to 60lbs,and they are fresh and saltwater fish. There is a lot of comps here now for marlin,bream,flathead and all sorts of saltwater critters. nothing like the bass in the states our lakes are very small. saltwater fishing here is big,Sydney harbour is saltwater the bass boats are fine in it just wash them real good.We have a lot of boats called tinnies or aluminium boats.Thats 2 small tinnies in the photos that some guys use in the comps but mainly used for recreaction use.Last edited by Bass Cat Australia on January 16th, 2009, 7:09 am, edited 1 time in total.Your Signature …
