Hi guys, My auto bilge pump is not working. Is there an easy way to figure out if it is the pump or the float switch? I think I found the float switch behind the rear seat pole brace, it sound like there is a ball bearing or something rolling around inside when I lift it up. Not sure if that is normal. Manual bilge works fine. Thanks for any help. I would think this is something simple I could fix myself. Ed
Volt meter is your friend. The float switch is just that. Should have 12 volts coming in. Once the float lifts it should have 12 volts coming out to the bilge. If their is discrepancy on either side. Work from your findings
The float will not have voltage though it senses the travel and the processor turns on the pumps.
I stand corrected! This is a new one for me. Not like the one in my paw in laws tin boat. Nevert the less good information
I have a new cartridge, should I try that first?

Correct so far as I know. My classic has one pump. Manual sends power direct to the pump. Auto sends power through the float when it floats. If it works on manual, check the float. We had quite a bit of water in my boat last week when we pulled it out. Enough water that it floated that float high enough to get a wire under it. Pump would not shut off until we undid the hanging float. Also made sure that no other wires are close enough to snag it again.
Sorry guys, was on a short vacation and could not get phone to let me post any replies. I have 5 pumps in my P4. 3 are livewell related and 2 are bilge pumps. After talking to Richard at Bass Cat, I think we have it narrowed down to a bad pump. He told me that both bilge pumps should be working when turned on to manual, only one is working. Now if I can just figure out where I put my spare cartridge at, I can get this thing fixed. I guess none of you guys know where I put it. LOL I did find a lot of unopened plastics and a brand new spinning reel, so my search was not for nothing. You know the day after I buy a new pump cartridge I will find the other one. Thanks Ed

Thanks Ed Ed, I have 5 pumps as well in my BCB. This is what they are:Pump inPump outAerateRecirculateBilge (manual and auto)I am not saying that you dont have two bilge pumps but I am saying I would be very surprised to find that you do. (BCB might have done this for some reason)I have a 2017 P2. I once owned a P4 and it was set up the same as my P2.Just double check that please before you get off track.Jim
Maybe this will help you out. This is what my P2 has for pumps. This would be looking into your bilge area from the starboard side of the boat.
