So theres an article in Bassfan today http://www.bassfan.com/news_article.asp?ID=5117 that shows an impressive over 50lb limit caught out of Lake Perris,Ca by a couple guys. Let me say first that the two guys that caught these fish are probably great anglers and great guys but I have a problem with stuffing 5 (maybe more) fish between 9 and 11 lbs in a live well all day only to have a picture of obviously stressed fist held bundled up like slabs of meat. In a tournament situation theres no choice of course, but keeping a bunch of fish in the box all day on a day of fun fishing just for a picture rubs me the wrong way. Seems like this happens more and more just for a little pub. We spend too much money in this sport to risk killing beautiful fish like these. Maybe Im overacting

The position of most state agencies is catch them, have fun and release what you feel like. They work all year to see these fish caught and eaten if you so choose. Its what these fish are raised for! There are enough nuts out in left field. BCB
Let me say it here first. You dont have to worry about seeing me in a pic like this ! That being said, they could have presented more thoughtfully, but probably wouldnt have the same impact. Am I mad , or am I jealous ? Im jealous,,,,,,, they grow them out there !
Interesting story but nothing mentioned about them being in a tournament. Tournament limit is 5 fish otherwise it is a 2 fish limit at Lake Perris. Fish and Game might be paying him a visit if this was not a tournament. No Tournament the last few weeks on that lake had anywhere near that weight. In the winter Fish & Game stocks Rainbow Trout and they are like candy bars to the big Bass and Stripers. Here is a custom made 11 inch 9oz swimbait I toss when hunting the big ones at Lake Perris.
thats Chip he is a stick and holds the lake record at lake Skinner, me and my buddy will be at Skinner in the AM incase anyone wants to stop by and say hi! not to mention Chip lives 2 blocks away from me and is a really nice knowledgeable guy. like Devoreflyer (Nice bait!) mentioned no tourneys there in awhile and the lake is really low with tons of pressure but the big girls eat the trout patterns well! LOL not to mention the stripers! it does seem to be the norm nowadays guys catching a huge limit and taking pics and or video after but i dont see it any different than if in a tourney or not, just my .02. a guy just caught this 15lb, a few days ago!http://fishingnetwork.net/forum4/showth … 2821-Giant!Last edited by socalpIII on January 16th, 2015, 4:24 pm, edited 1 time in total.
He may be a nice guy and I dont doubt that and he is obviously a very good fisherman. But the fact remains he broke the law. There is a two fish limit at Lake Perris and also Lake Skinner. Exceptions are made for tournaments and he was pleasure fishing. After he caught the second fish he should have released it if he was to keep fishing. We are sometimes our worst enemy when groups are out there that want nothing better to show the public why fishing and hunting should be banned. Im not trying to pee on anyones parade but if we dont set an example and be good stewards then who will.
i agree with you Devoreflyer he broke the 2 bass limit and he should know better, i follow the rules and would expect others to do the same.
Now we have a credible argument. If the law was broken and documented then California has something to view.
A shot of his livewell on his Facebook page. Any way you count I see three fish and with two fishing and either one of them is over the limit or one has two and is still fishing. Either way it is illegal. And do you you think any of these fish look stressed?? If we dont police ourselves and our fellow fisherman who will??
