On one of my last trips in 08 (in Minnesota, so I had 5 months of hard water), I ventured to an off the beaten path lake / ramp. As my buddy was swinging around with empty trailer, I noticed the front tire of my trailer on the passenger side was up and off the ground. We were both able to stand on the front axle and pop the tire back down. This spring, Ive noticed it started happening more often. If the trailer is empty, I can bounce on the front axle and pop it down. If the boat is on the trailer (when I load the boat and it “sticks”), it pops down by itself once Im out of the water and the weight levels. There is an “upside down T” that holds the springs from both axles. On the driver side, that T is level. On the passenger side where Im seeing this issue, the T is tilted to the back (opposite of what I would think). Ive looked at the springs and there doesnt seem to be an issue. Ive look at the axle, and there doesnt seem to be an issue. But something just seems wrong. Do I have an issue? If so, is it something I can fix? If I need to take it in, can any marine shop diagnose the problem as Im not close to a Cat dealer. Thanks in advance for the help. Chuck Oh yeah – I have an 03 PIV. Im pretty sure I dont have the pop axle, but being that Ive never seen one, Im not sure.
