Just got home with my new 250SHO (repower) thanks to the fine folks at Brech Marine. Those looking for PIIs and Eyras with SHO Powerplants he has them.New gas pump adjustments and need some fuel additive input. Ill be using 89 octane gas. Is there Ethanol additives at this octane level? If not is it still required to use Stabil Blue?

you know, ive always used the stabil red in my emergency genrator fuel supply. ive seen the stabil blue. can anyone tell me what the difference is?

Glad to hear it Tom cant wait to see some numbers. All grades of fuel have ethanol added to them now. I use the Startron ethanol treatment.The stabil blue is an ethanol treatment as well ad a fuel stabilizer.

Chris, not to put you on the spot but, but….. Why do you prefer Startron? I respect your input. Do share.

Ive used Startron for many years in ethanol and non-ethanol fuel. It helps to stabilize fuel and more importantly, it breaks down any water/condensation in the gas into a chemical mix that suspends in the gas and can be passed through injection or carbs without doing any damage. Stops phase separation and supposed to improve performance. Not so sure about the performance claims though. I add it to all grades of fuel in this and the last boat. Over the winter I also add to mowers etc. So far so good. I still add Quickleen also. Cheap insurance to add both.

Tom, Startron is really good for blocking ethanol enzymes and mixes 1 oz per 16 gallons of gas where stabil is a 1 to 10 ratio. By blocking the ethanol it is also supposed to improve fuel economy. Well, to start my first day on the water Ill be using a 26p Fury prop with the vent holes plugged. Ill do that for the interim. Next challenge is getting those darn plugs in my Hydromotive Quad IV. I have a 26p Four blade ready to run with a slight challenge. I have lubricated the plugs but the wont go in. Any other suggestions to get those plugs will be appreciated.

Tom, heat em up some to soften the rubber. Dont know if itll help but its worth a shot.
