Well guys/gals, unfortunatley i do not have better news to report other then an 85th place finish out of 110 anglers. The tournament days were very tough for me, and I got to fish out of my cat for one of them, i got to use mine the first day and we had a 1.5 hour fog delay unfortunatley. I needed that moring time to lock thru and get to my fish in pool 4. Anyways Practice on the red river was hit or miss till about my third day of practice, i got locked on to a pretty solid patern of crankbaits, jigs and trickworms down in Pool four. I had one spot about 6 miles south of the lock in loggy Bayou where there fish were stacked up in laydowns and wood stumps, then ran down and check some areas out around the coushatta boat ramp and found a good concentration of fish in 8-10 feet of water in two channels that split a stump field, this is where i would start my event. In practice i caught a 6.2, a 5, a 4 and two threes, and a few 1.5-2 lbers, while shaking off about 10-12 other fish, that did not hook themselves. Those bigger fish came on crankbaits. So we had a the fog delay and then had to lock through, I got down to my spots around 1015, and with the front that blew thorugh and very light winds, my fish either moved or had lockjaw and i was not able to adjust to what they wanted, and ended up with a zero on day 1. Day two i drew a guy from Texas (Tom McCord very nice gentleman), and he was sitting in 11th with 7.35 lbs so we took his boat and went to his fish, we ended up catching three fish that would measure, he got 2 and i got one around 1.75 lbs. Weather was better on day 2 (no fog), and from the guys i was prefishing around down in pool 4 told me those fish turned back on, and they caught them. Lessons learned there! It was a very good event and BassCat seem to be represented well with about 8-10 Cats there. I got to meet a few folks (Mike Murphy great meeting you) and had a good time. I have qualified for the the National event but still do not have a co angler to link with so as of right now it is up in the air if i will make the trip. My P4 ran excellent all 7 days of fishing and the shallower draft on the P4 helped me get into some of my areas, it it was flat out awesome in those stump fields. Overall it was a great experience and was very happy to put together a solid pattern during practice, but was very disappointed in not making the proper adjustment need during the event to come out higher. But as I said I know what i would have done now and hopefully this will help me out in the future as for fishing the moments! On the way home got to meet Scott Mcgehee while we stopped for lunch just outside of Jackson, Ms. Very nice to meet you Scott. Jason S.
