I bought a used, (certified Bass Cat), from a dealer on the east coast. First the main fuel tank was contaminated, the oil injection(hole in line) was not functional and there was a hole in the bottom of the boat and the electronics were not functional or complete. Now your asking why, I traveled from AR. to the East coast and was told a water test was not possible so when I returned home the fun began. Also the speed, trim, water pressure and pump in to the do not work list, but he said he went to through the boat. This is my 3rd. Bass Cat and wanted to warn my fellow anglers. Your better off buying from a dealer you know. So far 2,000 to make it water ready. Hopefully Bass Cat knows who he is.
Was the dealer a Bass Cat dealer?Dan
There is no used “certified Bass Cat” unless it comes from the factory, period, that Im aware of.Who did you ask about the boat ? BCB ? History with serial # ?Was the misrepresentation intentional ? How would you know ? Im just asking,,,,,, otherwise reputable dealers have a bad apple associated now and then, or even just misinformed….Anyway, moral of this story is buy from trusted source ! Take it to the water, inspect it yourself, climb over through and under any boat you buy and run it or operate all electrical on site before signing the check.Im sorry for the bad experience youre going through, but look at the bright side, the wheel bearings must be good, and you will know the rig is good to go when you are done with it ! And thank you for posting about this, it makes guys like me(who point out any imperfections on my boats to potential buyers) look good !
He is a Bass Cat Dealer and had boat as used certified.
tkessell, We have a Kessell in the data base that owned a 1994 Pantera II and another second ownership of a 2009 Pantera IV. We dont have any record of the present discussed unit and we were just looking into this in order to determine the situation. BCB
If it is the boat I think it is I considered going to get it ! And just from my experience, Ive spent lots more than that on much newer boats to keep them on the water. If it is one of the pure VE resin hulls it is worth every cent of what you paid, and the aggravation ! Tremendous material in that build, and no matter the circumstances it will be a great boat for many more years. Again, Im sorry for your situation, but dont think for a second (if I have correct dealer and boat) that the owner would intentionally misrepresent. Everything Ive heard is positive from great sources. Hope it all works out, and youre very happy with the results. That is whats unique with BCB. Older boat or new, you are still a BCB owner, and should be satisfied with the product and support.
Present is 2000 Cougar.
Anyone w/ a boat that says “water test not an option” has something to hide, and I would leave or hang up right then and not go back. Just my two cents. Hopefully youll get the bugs worked out & wont go too far in the hole money wise.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
I appreciate all your support and help, what really bothers me the boat I traded in which was a 1989 had 1 thing wrong with it, for some reason the running lights quit on the drive there. I gave full disclosure.
Tough situation on the 1989 to 2000 model trade. Since none of us were involved we really cant knowledgeably comment on this situation.
