Dear BCB, et all,Greetings,First, Love my 2010 Puma! However, both of my silver Bass Cat Logos came off the back of the boat leaving just a silver sticky smear where the logos once were. This happened about the 3rd time I hit the water. This never happened on my 2000 Pantera III so I found it a bit unusual. The lakes I fish are the same so water shouldnt be an issue.Any ideas?BTW, I have a carpet logo that I want to apply but need some instructions on how to do so.Thanks All,Darin
I have a 09 Puma FTD = Same issues – Basscat logo, lifetime warranty logo and black inserts on the steering wheel that look like fish have came loose.Bigal
The decal vendors have been changed three times trying to solve this mystery and the application process has been revisited also. The decals dont usually peel from the top though and leave the silver. Sorry for the decal issues. BCB
I dont know if it peeled from the top. The decal is completely removed and probably at the bottom of the lake. Has the issue been resoleved? Is there any way to get new decals and re-apply? I love that BC decals. Really compliments the look of the boat. How do I clean the left over adhesive material off the hull w/o damaging the gel coat? Thanks,
WD-40 will clean the residue, and give service at BCB a call and theyll get you fixed up. 870-481-5135
Clean the WD-40 with solvent and alcohol. The decals sometimes just release we have tried several vendors and applications. It is one of the largest service items on all boat brands, though we do have more issues on the hull decals as they are more exposed. BCB
I lost a decal, cleaned the residue with denatured alcohol and tried puting the new decal back on. Appearently I didnt get all of the residue off becuase the new one started to peel off with in a week. I peeled it back and noticed that there was still some residue left on the hull. I have scrubbed and srubbed with denatured alcohol, goo gone and I have even taken a plastic scraper and I still cant get that old stuff off.Are there other chemicals I should try? Are there any that will damage the gel? Im assuming paint stripper shouldnt be used but what about mineral spirits or acetone? Are those safe? Any other suggestions? Sandpaper? Rubbing compound? Jackhammer? Thanks,Kent
Mineral spirits are fine, and enamel reducer also. The acetone wont cut the glue and the WD-40 works well though can leave a residue. BCB
Mine came off as well on first trip just on the right side… wiping it down and only saw the fish was left. I emailed parts and had one in about 5 days…great service as always. Mine left no residue at all that i could tell, it looks like it was never there(residue wise) so who knows. I have not put the new one on yet but can say that it does not appear that the adhesive is that great as it is already peeling away from the backing easily and is not tacky. I actually thought about taking it all off and trying to get the new vertical BCB stickers for the rear of the hull and calling it a day. Problem is it does look good with the domed decals
Well, I had assumed one of mine was stolen when I wiped my Sabre down last Saturday. However after reading this I am now sleptical. I have had my boat since the end of February. Never noticed any peeling. After getting off the water I noticed one gone but to be honest not sure if I even looked before I left for the lake. I checked the sticker on the other side and low and behold it is torn and peeling. I just assumed that someone came up in my driveway and started peeling one and tore it so they decided to go to the other side and got that one. My boat was only unattended for 30 minutes while I ate my breakfast. After reading this thread though, it makes more sense that one fell off and the other started peeling and tore while I was zooming around the lake fishing. There was no residue at all where the sticker is missing. BCB any chance for a refund as I just ordered two new stickers to replace them or am I SOL?????????? I paid $40 plus $8.95 Shipping. I will say that I ordered Sunday night and they arrived today.
