Received my used BC Puma and backed it into the water. Had checked fuel and it was full. Turned the key and the engine starter turns and turns but not an ounce of fire. Made me think BCBs have a kill switch or security system which disables the motor. Wantted to see if this was possible prior to moving on to the spark plugs, fuel filter, carb etc.http://www.vrbo.com/297770

Is this your first boat? To my knowledge, all boats have a kill switch with a cord that attaches to your life vest D ring. It is a common problem for it to be disengaged causing the issue you are talking about. Not my first rodeo, but it is my first BCB. On most boats Ive owned there is a latch for the clip to go through. I see a round button looking below and to the rear of the throttle. I am thinking this is it. How does the switch connect? Thanks for the help!http://www.vrbo.com/297770

The round button thing should be a breaker. You should have a kill switch just below the throttle…standard toggle kill switch, and did you verify the fuel selector was in either the right of left position and not the off position.

Ahh missed the part about being a yamaha! Yeah those are the older style kill switches and uses the “key clip” that slides up under the top…That definatley is your issue.. walmart should have those. Or find a buddy with a jet ski and take theirs!! they dont need to be out anyways…Last edited by JSLAW on August 8th, 2010, 3:04 am, edited 2 times in total.

Yes you will need a safety switch lanyard on those engines. The previous owner probably left it on a life vest. BCB
