The Weekend series Two day Arkansas div. tournament scheduled for this weekend on the AR. River in L.R. has been cancelled ! Noting that the river was under small craft advisory they decided to cancell the event. The top 40 will be invited to fish the regional @ Kentucky Lake in October, and will recieve the information soon on that event. I sure wish they had talked to some locals before deciding, but im not a tournament director ! After fishing snowstorms, floods, open river, and tornado ravaged areas, now a little water scared someone and they whined a bit and got it cancelled,,,,,,,,me upset ? Nah,,,,,,IM LIVID !!!
Sorry to hear that, but it is always better to err on the side of caution. Keeps tournament fishing in a positive light among non tournament fishermen who see that someone is looking after a persons safety. Having been a TD for a local club is different than for a larger circuit, but it was an easy call if it is already built into the rules……….96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
dbasketman, Sorry to hear about the weekend serias, I thought that was you at Maumelle Park ramp on Monday. Was trying to catch up to you before you guys left the ramp to meet you. My wife was holding the Cat for me as you guys were leaving, I was parking the truck. She did say you thought she was the best looking boat anchor around……I agree. Keep a tight line. Jack
Catch you next time Jack, and the wife was funny holding the boat ! Allen, i wouldnt be upset about the tourney i i thought for a minute there was any danger , but after the snowstorm at Ouachita, the flood(380k cfs and 30mph wind at Dardanelle), tornado ravaged area and flood at Greers, etc,,,,,,,Youd have thought they would have talked to some locals about the conditions. Maybe over critical, but i was looking forward to the event. D.
Yeah, I know, and that is the “catch”…….usually dont see “small craft warnings” on lakes, just rivers. Sounds like they went by the letter of the law(or rule). You might see lake wind advisory. Dardanelle is a unique exception in that it could be interpreted either way. Again, tough call….BTW my son and I were at Maumelle Park on Saturday, made a run up river and had a good time.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I agree with Doug. Total BS to cancel 2 days in advance. The models have the upstream data below 100 by Saturday in pool 7. They ran a BASS Open Event in Shreveport that was 1,000,000 more dangerous with 5 times as many boats for 3 days. Someone didnt want to drive to LR if you ask my uninformed self. No one questions the status of the water for Sunday. Run the thing for 1 day on Sunday at least. Lame.C.O.D. Jr. III
I would agree that a one day on Sunday could be done. The upstream pool may be below 100k, but according to the projections, Pine Bluff pool would still be well over 100k on Saturday….so Tar Camp would not be that far behind either….not everyone would go up river(?), so why not an alternate-DeGray? That would be unique.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Shame!
i was looking forward to the tourney also…but its all good…just lookin forward to the regional at kentucky lake now
Between the moaning and groaning over the conditions in three of the tournaments and the belly aching over the spotted bass rule in the 4th, they probably thought they were doing you a favor!Last edited by PhilAddison on September 5th, 2008, 12:13 am, edited 1 time in total.
