Just wondering how many are still around ? I have restored a few old boats. Now that I am getting older, I am looking to get my restoration work completed on all of my Love Affairs , before I am OLD enough to retire … And Too old to Enjoy them….
Never heard of a DLX. What is it?
The first models built by BassCat up to … I think 1975 where called the DLX ,
The DLX was an acronym for the 16’ long and 64” beam Deluxe Tournament Model. That was built in 1971 and was actually a particular floor plan with front storage and rod box left, livewell behind the rod box and fuel storage behind that. Main console had a front livewell tied to the front deck. Production ended in 1975.
Custom floor plans were in a kit like a paper doll. You cut the boxes and laid them on a boat drawing to your liking. Those were custom builds and not DLX models.

Now … Thats Class …. The 2 that I have are in spectacular condition and are in need of minimum work .. The 1973 I have only needs the carbs cleaned on the engine .. I have Literally Jumped and Stomped trying to find a week spot in the floor … There are none to be found …
The 1972 model has a sort spot mid floor. But all in due time .. The day will come when it is like new. The lights mid ship on the outside of the rail section raise a small concern. I doubt they are available today .. Rome wasn’t built in a day. And I was Blessed with Patience..
No, that’s was a glass dome light with a chrome bezel and they are no longer available. That by the way was an option also.
Awesome. Thanks.
I have one – 1975 – DLX Tournament 16′ – HN BASA00770975 –
sitting on its original Lunker trailer serial number 101 –
replaced the original 85hp Merc with a 1979 100hp Johnson in 1995
I replaced the carpeting – and did some mods to the interior layout in 1995
still has the original seats in perfect condition –
Unfortunately the 100 is over the horsepower rating.
The families who have one should dress them up for the Owners Invitational this October as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary.
I would love to be able to have Both of mine at the event … Just to allow people to see the quality …. Even after 48 & 49 years .
Unfortunately the 100 is over the horsepower rating.
NOPE – according to the capacity plate – the max horsepower rating is 140hp –
fully loaded with 3 group-31 batteries – 2 adults – empty livewell –
I hit 44mph – both on the speedo and GPS –
Basscatt .. Would be cool to see Pictures of Yours …
it’s all tucked in under its blanket in the garage for the winter –
but here are a couple old pics –
first one is shortly after I got it – before any mods –
notice the cone on the front deck – that was the seat post – and the rear seat post was fixed in place –

second pic is several years later – replaced the motor – modified the front deck – new carpeting
Totally Cool Pictures … The word. “Carpet”….. Is scary lol… But I have until September to have mine completed .. I am looking to find a light that can be used in the side of the rail on the 72 model. I am not fond of the idea of glassing the hole closed . Lots to do…. Trying to find upholstery that looks good with the August Gold gelcoat is tricky… I’m not fond of the blah white seats… Fortunately There are no extreme repairs to be made.. Just a lot of small ones… Thanks for sharing the pictures.
That’s an XLII model.
