Jack – I used too run the 27 Tempest on my 07 Puma. It was 1mph slower and required a little more driving but you could put that thing in the bed of the pickup if you wanted. That was the whole reason I ran it. I have a 08 FTD now and I am running the 27 Trophy. The 27 Tempest was 2 mph slower and seemed to make a bigger difference in the stability. Also this boat is easier to load on the trailer in my opinion. If you dont want to post your questions here feel free to email or call. Basschaser, I will try to condense this, I have a 2006 Puma DC 225 XS with a 26 Trophy Plus. This is the second 26 Trophy for me (first one cracked an blade) and it seems to be about 2/3 MPH slower than the first, both props new not reworked. First Trophy I ran 73 GPS no problem at all, half fuel load 2 people. The one I am currently running will only go 71 GPS small fuel load 1 person and its a struggle to get it there. I also have a 26 Tempest Plus and am right at the rev limiter and only running around 68 GPS. I was going to try a 27 Tempest to see if I could recover the lost MPH and stay below the rev limiter and pick up some MPH. I am not as concerned about loading as this is a very small part of the day and if you get the trailer deep enough it goes right on no problem. Just trying to get back my lost MPH, its an ego thing you know. Thanks for your advice and time. Jack
If you cant find one local let me know…I have one sitting at home in a box you could try. We could meet over at Lake Fork or figure something else out. Might be a great excuse to get up to see my buddy dbasketman. JL
Jack, Not many of the outof the box props are gonna be exactly the same, and i had similar issues with my latest prop on my current boat. P.A. sent me to a friend of his, Ronnie @ The Prop Shop in Lafayette,LA., and through communication with him about what the rig was doing, rpms, lift, holeshot, etc,,,,,He balanced and worked my prop to where it runs great now, and saved me the expense of a new prop, and similar issues again, etc,,,, I suggest you give him a shout and discuss your situation, and see what he can do for you. His # is 337-235-5761, tell him Phil and Doug sent you. Hes a super nice guy, and knows what hes doing,,,, i wont hesitate to use his shop again. good luck, D. I strongly suggest having your prop worked if looking for max top end performance. Ronnie Gilbert at the prop shop has worked two for me and I have been completely satisfied with both. As stated there are no two props exactly the same out of the box!
Dbasketman, Phil, Thanks for the info on the prop shop. I will contact him and see if he can work this for me. Just would like to get back that lost MPH. Jack
Phil, What do you mean by having your prop worked? Tx bass

Tx bass A good prop guy will make sure all blades are the same pitch…very few (mainly never) out of the box are all the same pitch. He will also take the prop you are running with the data you give him and can change a prop to make it do what you want…as long as what you want is within reason and the data you give him is accurate. JL
Jack, I have an 08 Puma 225 Pro XS and have the same problem. I also run a tuned 26 Trophy. Phil drove my boat and got it to 71.3 and I am only good enough to get it to 70.6 GPS. If you go to a 27 Trophy and have about 2 degrees of progression releived from the blades without changing the pitch, it should pull the RPMs up and get you back to about 73-74………..Call Phils guy or give this guy a shot.
