Okay guys before we begin let me first say that I am not the most electrically inclined person there is. My problem is with my 07 Puma that is equipped with a Cul Em Rite Pro Pac IV charger. Recently I had one battery( Trojan) that I continuesly had to keep adding water to, eventually I had to replace it with a new one (Trojan). Now I think my charger is not working, heres why. I keep the charger plugged in all the time in between trips, and yesterday after 5 hours of fishing in calm conditions I had nearly no juice left. I put the boat away and plugged the charger in and after about 2 hours it showed all green lites. This morning it shows all “green lites” still. So I took a portable charger and hooked it up to one of the batteries and it shows a yellow lite which means its charging. So obviously the batteries are NOT charged. Question; How can I check the charger to be sure its actually working? Remember, not electrically inclined!! Also is there anything else I should look for? Thanks, Keith

Check the “short stop(s)” by pass them to see if thi is the problem, simply remove the wire from one side and connect it to the other pole so no voltage is passins throug device after replacing all batteries in my boat i still had low power after a little use, I put a tester at T-motor, tester read 36v . . . (total voltage from three 12v batt) . . .I step on pedal the votage would drop to 24v because the Short Stop on Batt #1 would trip resulting in low T-motor voltage/power. hope this helps.

We do not suggest leaving a battery charger plugged in 24/7. Too many things can go wrong that are not in your control while your out and about. It does sound like the charger has an issue, though flip out the wire leads to another battery to be sure. It really could be a bad battery, and if you leave them plugged in then you may cook the water out in time. BCB Admin.

With the pro-pak the lights go green at about 85% full, even though they are still receiving a charge. The attached link explains how the pro-pak works (they are made by Genius), just look under the “about” tab at the top of the page, and the trouble shooting guide will be at the bottom left side. I would check with a voltmeter to see if still charging the battery after they turn green.-Joe http://www.geniuschargers.com/
