Battery Charger Queston

No this isnt a question about why my charger isnt working, but what to replace it with!? Ive seen some use the Minnkota 300 series charger, Ive seen some go with a ProSport XXX, just wondering what are the differences? I know BPS has ProSport “Smart” charger on sale for $179, the Minnkota is $300. Dont I want the “smart” charger (20 amp distributed)? Im looking for one that will bolt in where my present ProPack sits, Im not wanting to drill, cut, or modify anything. Any suggestions? Thanks,JP

THANKS for all the wonderful suggestions, I know many of you have voiced your problems with the chargers here. I purchased a ProMariner Pro 150 from BPS, hope to mount it tomorrow as I will be fishing this weekend.

Sorry JPeesy, we would not comment outside our box of offerings and you were looking for other options. Our option would have been a Lester carry charger in either 24 or 36 volts.

Sarcasm wasnt directed at you, Ive seen a lot of post about chargers lately, I didnt have time to wait for UPS/FEDEX so, was just asking some advice. Well see how this one works.

I started to comment on this earlier but I was gonna suggest that you get another NOCO if you were concerned about the mounting. I noticed you didnt have it listed as one of your options and I didnt have any input on those two chargers so I didnt reply.

I have the big nasty 4 bank 15 amp minnkota charger that I keep UNINSTALLED with clips on the ends instead of rings. I have used it since 10.08 and have had ZERO issues. No question which one I would use. I have a brand new noco 4 bank sitting in a box for 2 years that I have never used or installed since the first one failed.C.O.D. Jr. III

Ward, They all last longer uninstalled as the elements are not a factor, nor is the vibration.

I have a 3 bank cul m rite on my cat. The bank that goes to the cranking battery is shot, (tried everything and think its just gone). The other two banks are fine. Should I just get a single bank (any suggestions) Or a manual (brand suggestions) I know Lesters are nice, but surely a cheaper manual would work for a single. My cranking battery is an AC Delco and I just cant seem to kill this battery. I have Sears for my trollers and they rock, but the Delco wont die.

A single manual charger would be an option. The other two (2) banks could be used until those fail. You surely checked the in line fuse.

Been using Lester for 6 years ever since Mr. Rick recommended it. Lester is the real deal. Never fails. Sooner or later built-ins will bite the dust. Take em out and use a Lester.
