My ProMite 5 is hooked up to the DieHard AGM Platinum 31 battery. Plugged in the cord once I put the Cat in the garage last evening. Power LED is green, and Charge LED is red some 20 hours later. Is this simply going to be a slow charge, or should I be investigating something? Im no good with batteries, and amperage…

How about voltage…are you any good with that?A volt meter on the battery with and without the charger on should show higher numbers with the charger on.Its a start, though not the only testing to be done.

You should have at least a 10 amp charger for that battery!!

sears chargers have a 40 amp setting on them for the 31 plat battery. i have 4 plat 31 and 3 chargers from sears all have the 40 amp setting.

sounds like the battery is too low for the charger to charge it, when that happened to me i disconnect the on board charger and hooked up a stand alone charger to that battery and about 30min – 1hr, disconnect the stand alone charger from battery then plug in the the on board charger.

I unplugged the ProMite. Then, checked the battery voltage. Didnt have a digital meter, but it was right at 14 volts. I removed the ProMite wires from the battery terminals. Now I have my old 10 amp charger (set for deep cycle). The needle is hovering near the zero amperage. Which is how I used to charge my cranking batteries before the 3 bank chargers started coming standard.
