After fighting with my cranking battery discharging relatively quickly I discovered that I have a 30 milliamp draw on my battery with the master switch turned off. I realize that the old digital dash is going to do that and that has lead me to investigating battery disconnect switches. I want to see what the your experiences has taught you if it is better to run a battery disconnect switch such as this http://www.marinco.com/en/701 or a breaker with the ability to interrupt the circuit like this http://www.basscatstore.com/8amppushbut … ker-1.aspx . I’m afraid that if I were to use the breaker and manually trip it each time I got off the water I would wear out the breaker and have it prematurely fail or start tripping at a lower amp draw than the rated load. Have any of you, who have these breakers in your boat, had any problems with them? What about using the battery disconnect switches, are there any models to use or not use? I am running the normal automatic breakers that BassCat has always used and do not have any trouble with them I’m just looking for the best solution. Any thoughts would be appreciated.Thanks,Mike

Ive got a 1996 Eyra with the BP Superdash. That “phantom draw” will kill ya. When John Jones at Jones Trolling Motor installed fresh wiring and my twin 898 SI/DI units, he also put the Marinco switch on mine. Ive had no issues with the switch and my timers stay programmed. The aeration timers may also go to default if you put a cut off in line. Otherwise just pick the one you want.

BCB, what do you mean “the aeration timers may go into default”? Is that a problem? How to I “reset” them? I just bought a used Cougar with a Power Pole and it has a cut-off at the battery for the entire boat. The previous owner just told me to turn it off when Im done using the boat. I did not know there was an “issue” when doing ths.

If you do not have the digital dash, you only have “timers” like 3 min, 5 min, 10 min… You would probably have to just turn on and set to whatever time you normally do of your 3 options.The Superdash is waaay different. I can set any number of minutes “off”, up to 15 minutes, and any number of minutes “on” up to 5 minutes (from what I remember…I usually dont catch enough fish to have to use it). If I want the aerator or recirculator to run 2 minutes on, 3 minutes off, its doable.My Superdash has not gone back to default on my timers (so far).96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

Is this the a10 dash that has the draw even with the master power off? Or a different dash? Not sure if superdash is a specific thing or a description.
