battery issue

I have an 07 P4 with the cranking battery wired in series with the 2 trolling motor batteries. It looks like if the oil tank is moved there would be enough room to add another battery and isolate the cranking battery. Has any other P4 owners tried this set up?

Too much trouble and weight. The three battery set-up is plenty unless you fish current alot, imho. just use good batteries ! D.

What is your trolling motor, 12, 24 or 36? Are you wanting to add a 4th battery or run two for the trolling motor and one for the cranking?

Using high quality batteries is less expensive and less maintenance. We would suggest four batteries only for those extreme anglers and we feel three will do for most. We did succumb to pressure and no longer fight the challenge of a four battery system. Try three good ones first and we think you will be pleased. BCB

I have 3 new interstate Batteries and the trolling motor is a minn kota 101 lb. 36 volt. the 3 battery set up has worked just fine until last weekend during a tournament. Fished in wind all day and aparently ran the batteries down as the 200 opti wouldnt fire. Had to get towed in by an “R” boat !!!

Jumper cables = No “R” boat tow…LOL keep cables on the boat, are they original batteries? 3 years and done is common for alot of brands. Good batteries like optima 31s cost alot but keep on giving, I wont go back to wet cells after many years of top service from my gel batts.Good LuckBruce

The cranking battery is an Interstate # 24M-XHD. The trolling motor batteries are Interstate # SRM-27. The batteries are 6 months old.

Once I went to 31 series Diehard Platinum AGMs, 3 batteries will last a whole day on a no-motor lake with livewells and graphs running all day, and still have plenty of power to crank the motor at the end of the day. Personally, I dont want the weight of the extra battery if I dont need it. Plus, if you run the motor at all during the day it recharges the main battery as you run.
