Battery issues update. Testing to come this weekend.

I installed my new Aluminum Battery tray from BCB (sweet). Put my new monster Sears Platinum 31-M AGM battery in and cleaned up some wiring as well as changed out some old connections that werent looking so great any more. Now its time for a serious test. We are facing 20 mph sustained South west winds with gusts to 30 for Saturdays club tournament along with 95% chance of severe thunderstorms all day. Hopefully Ill be running my Livewells all day (Im in a major slump so this is said in jest) along with my bilge pumps. Hopefully the new battery and repaired wiring will straighten out my recent issues. I think it will. Thanks to all of you who offered your knowledge on that situation. Ill let you know how it works out after the tournament. Ive got this weekends club tournament, then the week after next Ill spend a few days at Choke Canyon with my Dad, then a couple week break then we will be off to Toledo bend for a week. Im looking forward to the opportunity to hook into a couple of big ones in the coming month. Not to mention the possibility of hooking a double digit fish right here close to home if the conditions are right. Maybe Ill break the 10 lb. mark this year! Hey Shap, or anyone else who owns the Diehard Platinum Battery. Did you have an issues installing this in your basscat?I have a 07 classic with the stock battery compartments and im wondering if it will fit since its a bigger battery then my interstates. thanks.

No issues other than the grunting from me as I lowered it in. Its a beast, but it has been worth every penny. It fit fine in the BCB aluminum tray.

I just put one in my Puma and it fit the tray perfect. As FireIsHot said, the only problem was getting that beast in the boat without tearing something up on me or the boat. It resolved the issues I was having with my front unit turning off when cranking.

Sweet! thanks guys. Im having the same issue edutton, with the front and console units going out while cranking the big motor, VERY frustrating.

I switched to the P-M1 not a single issue since. As all have said its a beast. Ive got aluminum trays so cant speak for standard trays. But I do know you wont look back…

Just want to make sure I understand this post, we are talking about the cranking battery correct? I am having the same problem with both my front graph and an extra graph that is ram mounted at the console. I would love to correct this issue and if it does by all counts posted I will be on my way to Sears very soon.2017 Eyra / 250 Merc Pro XS

Be sure to check all electrical connections also.

Another option is to add a large capacitor in line.

BCB, Can you elaborate ? What would constitute a large capacitor?
