Hi Ya’ll

Looking to mount a 5th AGM battery in my 2014 basscat cougar FTD.

To do this i’ve been looking at mounting in the rear deck compartment behind my passenger seat. How long of stainless screws would you use to mount the battery tray in the compartment? anything to worry about under the compartment ?

We do not suggest that. We would try to place a shelf over the sump for a 5th battery.

I have a shelf over the sump already that houses my oil tank for the Mercury two stroke outboard.

Where would you suggest putting a 5th Battery in there??

How come you don’t suggest putting it in the compartment? My thinking was to drill a hole through the side to feed the cables thru and mount the 5th battery in the compartment.

I just added a 5th battery in my Lynx. It’s a lithium just for running the graphs and active target at the bow. That way I could go with the smaller lithium and continue to run my console units from the cranking battery. I was able to put the battery and a 1-bank charger next to the gas tank on the starboard side. And it weighs about the same as the two power pole pumps mounted on the port side in this spot.

Sorry if this doesn’t help, I’m not familiar with the rear layout of the Cougar and this is my first Bass Cat. Have had it about 6 weeks. Good luck.

Go with lithium, drop 130 pounds out of your boat, no need to go through all that. You can literally buy some on Amazon . I would watch some DIY Solar on YouTube he opens up all the Amazon ones and rates them . Some get as high or higher marks than the middle to higher tier brands at 3 times the price. 200ah on lithium phosphate you will have no worries. One big battery or 3 80ah . If your super worried about power get a PP charge you can fish for a half week that set up. Pricer option would be lithium cranking battery, but with that you would need to go high end to get that type of CCA in a safe housing. That option around 900.00, but the low dissipation until completely dead is unmatched by any AGM. If I recall correctly this battery was rated very high from DIY Solar Power with Will Prowse
