I bought some new batteries for my trolling motor about 4 months ago, but when I went out Sat. morning about 2 hours in I almost had no trolling motor power left. I always charge my batteries when I get back from a trip to the lake and had plugged in the boat the day before I left. When I checked the charger Sat. morning I had all green lights. After a two hour drive back to the house, and a little complaining from my son, I plugged the charger in all the lights were red, and after 8 hours the charger showed all green lights, but when I put a V.O.M on the batteries one was only at 8 volts.Has anyone else had this issue. I would think if it was the battery that the NOCO charger would not go green. But after about 8 BCBs I have never had a charger go bad.Any suggestions?

1st check fluid level in batteries, it should be at the bottom of filler hole and at least covering the plates. Use distiller water to fill, 2nd , check connections for corrosion, use baking soda slurry on connections if corroded, then clean with brush3 rd turn charger back on, check voltage with charger on, should be in the 13 volt range

battery charger might have failed or vise versa and in all likelihood the batteries are shot now since they have been sitting dead for a while. You might have both issues now!

I have used the batteries every couple of weeks since I bought them 4 months ago. They seemed to be working well a couple of weeks ago when I went out. Thanks Scubaman154, I will hook the charger back up on them and see if I get anything close to the 13 volt range. Just not sure why the charger would go to green if the battery was not charged unless the battery charger was bad.Has anyone had problems with the NOCO geniues charges in the past?Thanks for the help.

Every on board battery charger can present problems. NOCO has been a very durable on board for us, though we know they are all (brands) prone to failure. The concern we have is if it is charging as stated. Then you potentially have a bad battery and not the charger. Which is also very possible. According to a major charger manufacturer the number of batteries produced which are faulty or substandard new would shock anyone. They have faith, though in most brands though some are better than others. This was based on their individual testing of batteries.
