I am curious about BayCat boats. I have never seen one and are they still made?
My fishing buddy runs one. We run it from lake fork to 50 miles offshore. Unbelievable performance! Its got a lot of custom features on it including a custom t-top and a 250 pro xs on the back. Full load, t-top, our fat butts, and more gas than anyone wants to pay for it will still run over 60 mph. He can usually gets to around 63-64. With a different prop hed get even better performance. Gas milage is unreal– weve been 48 miles out with 20-30 miles of trolling/running while out with four grown men and only burned through one tank of gas. He can give exact #s, but either way overall performance is outstanding. Weve had it in waves that are hard to imagine unless youve been in them and weve come back every time. Simply cant say enough good. Call or email me for picks or Matts info. We live in College Station if he wants to see it. If yall want to throw in on gas, weve been trying to get an offshore trip together soon…..weather pending. Aaron 979-587-1844 or customirrigation@gmail.com

Mike he has been busy with the Christmas Holidays. I talked to him last night to see if he had seen the boat yet and he said he will call you 1st of next week and meet up with you concerning the Baycat at Bowdens or possibly ordering one. The looks, ride and performance will be the seller. So what I see and hear the boat will almost speak for itself. Thanks Mike!
If the new ones have the tinned wiring…that will be a major plus!! And I mean major!!

I know BCB said that was a new feature for 2011 I believe. I would think it would be on the Baycat too.
They quit production of the Baycat a couple of years ago or so.
My buddy was in the market for a bay boat a couple months ago. He asked me if Basscat made one and I told them they used to. I found one on the net in Louisiana and sent him the link. He bought it and its one sweet rig. I like how much faster it is than any other bay boat in its class.
I had one for about a year, while I lived in Lower Alabama. It WAS one of the faster bayboats in its size class. Lightly loaded it would touch 70mph. Well built as all BassCats are. The only issues I had was the trailer and boat wiring, constant battles with corrosion, as I used it in brackish water and a few trips into salt water. That was before BCB went to tinned wires I believe.
I still have mine and it is the fastest bay boat of its size in the space. I wish BCB would have done some redesign with input from users. I think it could have been a good seller in the right markets. I also feel its not really built to withstand true salt water use. As Billius said the wiring is not made to with stand salt water use. I have only had mine in salt a few times and always washed down after but there are still issues with corrosion. I also have cracks in the flooring and on the deck lids in places there should not be. If someone was planning on keeping it in fresh water it is fine, it rides great and handles rough water very well. The bilge area is a mess and replacing batteries is a job made for people who can contort their bodies. I have thought a couple of times of sending mine to someone who specializes in salt water boats and have them rewire the entire boat as it should have been done the first time.
