I was killing some time and was reading some posts on BBC in the Legend Boats section. I found it interesting that many of the posts I read made positive references to Bass Cat including one guy who said he would like to see the Pierce family purchase Champion. If these guys that own Legends are so enamored with Bass Cat then why did they not buy one? Dont get me wrong I happen to think Legend makes a good boat (my opinion of course) but it is no Bass Cat. Just an observation by me.-Jason
BCB will not comment on another brand………………they are professional about that. I have ridden in a Legend and it is a great boat. BCB just is leading the way right now and from what I have been looking at ……………..they are at the right price point and the competition cannot touch them for the boat they make. I would think they are at 25 points …………..max . But they may be less than that. Legend seems to be at 30+ on there margin. It depends on who wants to sell and quality ……………in my opinion its BassCat.I priced a Legend and all the options were marked up 35 points………………I know they are in business to make money but daggone. That much!!!!!Sorry BCB if I am incorrect in my calculations……and by no means represent your boat line or sales in this post. If I offended please delete.
I may be a little “thick”, but can you help me with the point sysytem?
Scott most dealers wish those were the profit margins. Bass Boats instock in particular are typically sold and advertised at a much lower #. Non currents well that depends on the dealer, some are stubborn, I say lets move on. If Legend is pricing that much Higher in comparison then Im in like flynn. I finally was able to look over Legend today and yesteraday, the new 2010 211 Alpha, it has a new little compartment up front, but is everyone enamored by the finished batt box, and that they seem to sand their top cap compartment lips so they are smooth? I kind of wondered about the Deans Seats, they advertise a Gel, BCB do we get that or is it Goofy? I liked the finish, shiny and true, however the Meat and Potatoes of the boat seemed lacking, The Chines/Strakes were very dull and small, the Champion ripped off Turning chine on the outward hull is really “weak” looking, where the Champs was much more pronounced. The overall look was Rangerish, or Skeeter, I compared to a ZX225 there and they were both dull, Legends deadrise seemed shallow in the rear, but that may have been me. The colors were cool, but I could color a Turd and it may sell. It was Narrow in comparison to me. But Hey, I cant rip them up, they seem to do good work, Im sure their Work force are great people and top knotch. Overall I liked it to a Ranger or other mass produced hull. But man are we spoiled with BCB, what a Hull and over all knowledge….Thanks BCB for making the competition speachless!!!!!!!!! H.O. Man Today at least…..Your Signature …
I dont care for the Legends fade stripe. I know they do this as a way to offer the buyer something unique to Legend but I just dont care for it. I like the layout of the boat just fine but once again it is not a Cat and will never be close to a Cat. The finished out bilge area means nothing to me. I want functionality in the bilge with easy access. I could care less what it looks like and if its striped in this area. The boat doesnt really remind me of a Skeeter at all. It does still very much resembel the old Hawk line by John Stories. All things considered…line every 20+ foot boat up side by side and ask me which one I want and I would choose the Cat hands down…Even if its colored Evinrude blue! Sorry Brannon I just couldnt resist.

I am picking…………….25 points. You Sir should be commended . I was just looking at price points and commented! No comment on future purchases as I do not know the owners of BCB . God Bless and I hope your new purchase is a great one! Rip offs of Champion….are you sure?I will not defend …………………….I do not own BCB , but I will bet you are getting 18% ……………………wanna bet?
We know of very few bass boat dealers who do 18 points or more. Most are substantially less. The competition ski boat dealers often turn larger numbers than you mention, though not the fishing boat dealers. We have seen the progression of sales on this brand and having some if their former dealers in our stable the indications are margins were skinny a days to turn in the market were excessive. Which leads to high interest costs. Info link actually complimented us on our days turned in the market and lower inventory on dealer floors annually. That has always been our goal and the data shows we always lower our inventory with less carry over on dealer floors.
BCB, you guys are the leader in this industry and the reason why I left my “R” boat after 7 months of ownership Period. Keep up the work as it is obvious others are joining the family.
Turns does not indicate margin…………I would bet you are asked to be at 18% or higher, which is well needed and for the boat you build deservedI was just making a statement that was not derogatory, just a statement on what I have witnessed in the Bass Boat industry. No offense intended as I own your product at a great price. As for bworner…………………you would not like it if we compared margins. But, you represent the best so no reason to!BTW…………….turns = less taxes………….I did get through first grade. You guys are awesome!!!More or less a picking post……………sorry I had sushi with ginger and it hurts so I am trying to make someone else miserable.
