Just a quick question in regards to the ad BCB placed in BWB that promotes the Sabre FTD. I noticed this boat is rigged with a Yamaha 175 HPDI on what seems to be a standard slidemaster jackplate. In the picture it seems that the jackplate is set very high in comparison to what I have found works best on my boat. It looks as if the inner plate is at least an inch higher than the outer plate. Is this a result of the way the engine is mounted to the plate or did that boat require a higher setting for optimal performance? I realize each boat will be a bit different as far as engine height but that boat seems significantly different from most I have seen. Chris

Each boat is set the way that it performs best overall, with a loaded condition for those images. It is not maxed out for overall top end. We do not know which propeller was/ is in that rig, though it is not set up for high top end only. Every boat and engine is different and we have stated this many, many times. One does not indicate the exact location for another. BCB

I run a 05 Classic with a 200HP HPDI and I also run mine 1 1/2″ above flush. That is where I got my best performance. In the ad, that plate looks to be 1 3/4″ to 2″ above flush to the outer plate. When you see the bolt slot showing on the inner plate you are around 1 1/2″ above flush. I struggled a long time with the height I was running and finally left it there because it felt right. I wonder if Yamahas run higher than mercs? Brian Hash
