Thanks for the kind words Jim, and I hope your liking your Xi5. Heres what I ended up doing on my Sabre. I first bought the Motorguide quick release mount which is very small, and youd have to drill new holes to use it which I didnt like. I then ended up buying the MinnKota MKA 47 plate which bolted in the factory holes of my BassCat. I then bolted the MG plate to that. I never had to drill a single hole. Heres the kicker, the MKA will slide back for launching and loading, but will not slide back far enough to detach. With the MG mount on top of it you can then take the motor off by using it, and then slide the MKA off and put your other motor on if you get the MKA48 (top plate of the MKA47) and mount it to your cable operated foot control motor. With that said, you may be able to mount the MKA farther forward than I did so that it would fully release, but with my motor deployed the shaft is about 1″ in front of my boat. Also I havent needed to slide mine back for loading/ unloading the boat. I think the added height helped that on mine. Heres some pics.
