BCB,question on what runs off what

I was wondering from the factory how the boat is wired.Do the graphs run off the cranking battery or the TM batterys.I am curious cause striper fishing at night we run the lights,areator,and the graph sometimes and I dont want to run out of juice.So far so good but there are so many wires back there I cant tell whats what.Do you know exactly what runs on the cranking battery or was that hooked up at the dealer?

I am not Bass Cat but do have a ton of experience wiring boats and stuff. Kind of doubt they hooked any of your accessories on the trolling motor batteries and would pretty much bet they are on the cranking battery. Depending on how many batteries and what size trolling motor. They may all be hooked in series so that you have enough juice for your trolling motor. Good Luck

Everything runs off of the cranking battery except the trolling motor. And it may depending on you TM setup.Last edited by gchagler on January 8th, 2011, 7:06 pm, edited 1 time in total.

On my cat everything except the troller runs off the cranking battery that is why you need a bib battery for the cranker I just put in Cabelas 1500 mca battery and solved all my problems.

Thanks for the input,just seems like there is a ton of wires on the TM batterys and only 2 on the crankin.I guess maybe stuff runs off the box under the dash and that runs to the crankin battery?

…There are only jumpers and a main feed to the bow connected to my trolling batteries (3 battery, 36v system)All the other 12 volt systems are wired to the cranking battery, which has the common ground and the 36v negative feed to the bow trolling panel.Is is possible that some “shadetree” wrench has changed some wiring in your boat? What year/model is it?Mike Whitten

Its a 09 Sabre bought from Pops ,but they closed down.I have a 24 volt system but there sure are alot of wires on that side of the boat?I was just curious what ran what,guess I better put some jumper cables in the boat in case the crankin battery gets weak.

OK,So if you have “lots” of wires going to your trolling batteries, how many wires are connected to your cranking battery.If all your 12 volt accessories are running off one of the trolling batteries, you should have several red and several black wires all connected to one of the trolling batteries.Your cranking battery would only have a postive and negative lead from the outboard (and these would be fairly large diameter wires), and perhaps a positive and negative connection from the battery charger–IF– you have a 3 bank charger.Let me know the answers to these and well see what youve got. Im thinking someone moved a bunch of 12 volt feeds to one of the trolling batteries–not a smart move in my opinion.Mike Whitten/Germantown, TN
