2001 sabre trailer. What size bearing buddy????? The inside peace with grease fitting broke.

Ok after looking on line it would appear that I have UFP brand trailer buddy I assume this is original equipment does 1.980 sound like the correct size?

It will be original equipment sized. We dont now the measurement as its just a UFP part to us.

After losing about a half dozen bearing buddys while going down the highway or when putting my trailer in the waterI took them all off and installed regular grease caps off a Ford truck. I have never had a problem since.Johnny

Scoring the back side with a chisel on the edge (tap into creating nick grooves) and they should hold. Also tap them on with a block of wood and a heavy hammer. One lick to set and one lick to seat and your good to go!

BCB why continue to use something that your company doesnt recommend that you use to put grease in the brg anyway?Why not just do away with them and stop the whole throwing them off going down the road? Dorman part # 618-503 there are5 to a box. Then you dont have to do all the chisel work that shouldnt have to be done.

The new Vault systems require the cap or insertion of grease. The new grease is not as solid and thixotropic.

What would I need to upgrade my 07 dual axle to the vaults?

We do not believe that is a difficult alteration, though no reason to do so. The Vaults were a response for oil bath hubs we do not like and were popular at the time. Other competitors were using Oil Bath and we had frequent competition selling oil bath against us. Customers were requesting Oil Bath and it was a factor in sales, and they were less quality. The Vault we do feel lubricates better though we have no issues with a well cared for grease unit. Those other competitors are all using Vault hub at this time. At least all we are aware of are.
