Bearing question…

08 Cougar FTD. Front axle (without brake) on one side is leaking black, real watery fluid on the garage floor. Doesnt feel like oil and it dries after a while on the floor. The water will stain the fingers like if you grabbed a piece of charcoal with wet fingers. Only coming from one tire. brake/rust/trailer residue and it is mixing with some water draining from the trailer….could be the water is leaking in that area due to incline….. My humble opinion but BCB may have a better one….

More than likely brake dust dripping off the trailer across wheel. Must be a short trip to the house from the water ? But i wouldnt worry about it because there is nothing to “drip” out of the axle hub but grease, and youd know if there was a problem there. I have had a bearing failure and never wish to have to deal with that again. I would find out where the water is coming from and then attack it. If it is coming from the hub then I wouldnt play with it and get it repacked. But I am not one to say oh well, it isnt grease so all is well. You need to do some digging and get under that trailer and figure out where it is coming from. Judd Lasiter

Assumption would be grease though we also suggest your dealer see it. Hard to say unless it is brake fluid from a connection.
