The back of the bench seats in my 2002 P3 are fastened to the fiberglass wall between the seat backs and the live wells/rear deck via a L-shaped aluminum bracket riveted down into the top of the fiberglass wall. My brother caught his foot on the seat back while stepping from the rear deck to the passenger seat and pulled the seat back loose from the fiberglass wall. The rivet tore from its anchorage in the fiberglass, enlarging the hole where the rivet pulled out. It appears the rivet held the bracket to the fiberglass by friction in the hole.I repaired the damaged hole with Marine Tex. Am I correct about the friction hold of the rivet? Should I re-drill a vertical hole in the wall and tight-fit another rivet into the hole or should I try to refasten the bracket with a screw instead?
