Just got back in the country and was elated to find out owners invitational was coming to the great State of Texas. However, upon reading as to where it is….Seriously, Jasper, TX?! Of all the great places in Texas to fish Jasper, TX? Let me ponder this for a minute……..Jasper, TX?! Yall have fun at this one. Jasper IS the last place on earth I would go – no offense to anyone. Oh well, maybe next time.JP
You are really going to miss out on a great event on one of the BEST LAKES in the world. JR
I appreciate it JR, really hate to miss, but it wont be the first time or the last time I miss one.
I mean everyone has their reasons but this has to be lamest thing I have seen yet from a fisherman. Is there great bass fishing in Boston? Dallas? Houston? San Antonio? Atlanta? Napa? Are we looking at Michelin ratings now? Im sure I can get you some Grey Poupon ordered in advance at The Stump. Hell Ill undoubtedly have some good red wine you are welcome to come and share.Ive been to Rayburn. Is it Islamorda? Little Cayman? Abaco? Well hell no. Is the fishing great? Yes. Are there plenty of nice places to stay? Well Id say so seeing the 6 Bedroom house Dbasekt just booked for us!Is Plattsburg nice? Detroit? Emory? Luling, LA? Sacramento neighborhood where Delta events go out of? NO. Small town is a small town. The Texas ones just have restaurants that seem to close earlier than the ones in Arkansas, Alabama, etc and you better not want pork Bar B Cue- aint gonna happen in Tejas.Dude.Looking forward to FISHING and FRIENDS and FUN WITH EM!Oh and watching Phil bump fish all day…..C.O.D. As for me Im going to the event to put a big one in the boat and to spend time on the water with a good friend. Jasper is a small back drop and dont care if there are negatives. I wont find them. Hell, you can find negatives in Islamorada. I know my brother and I have. Nothing can get more remote then Zapata, Tx and thats a great place to go fish. Hope you change your mind. If you do lets connect and Ill buy ya a beer.Ward, lighten up on the Motor City there friend. Lake St. Clair is on my bucket list for a magnum Small Mouth and Im going to get up there. Good fishing has always trumped some the flea bag hotels Ive stayed in.Im very excited about going to Big Sam….. Bass Busters see you in six months.
Whats the matter with Emory?
Is there great bass fishing in Boston? Dallas? Houston? San Antonio? Atlanta? Napa?Atlanta – yes. Lanier! Bring some good red wine and Ill give you all my way points, LOL.
I thought lanier was north of atlanta? I aint stayin in hotlanta to fish that rascal. But i will travel with good red! As for Emory- nothing! Same as jasper. Small town. Aint lookin for the Ritz from either. Go fish, visit, eat goto bed. Spent years in Luling too. Just.dont get dragging an event down over the adjoining town.Last edited by clownshoes on October 6th, 2012, 1:32 am, edited 2 times in total.C.O.D. Jr. III
Im sure some would want Amistad/Falcon, but lets be realistic. This isnt just about the bass fishing, its about good wholesome family fun and fellowship. We have to remember that BC has one OI and does this as a way of “thanks”. I think the idea is to get a more well rounded participation than just the majority being the Ark-Missouri boys. But somebody from Maine, New York, Michigan or even Cali have to consider driving and conveniences. Sam Rayburn has a prominent place in bass fishing history and has withstood the test of time compared to the “newbies” and that would include Fork as well.500-800 boats, what are the odds of actually winning? If people are taking it as a major fishing tournament and are only concerned with winning, they will miss the WHOLE point! Sit back, enjoy the fishing but enjoy spending time with family and friends even more. There are a lot of families that grow(and grew)up going to the OI as a family bonding. Visiting with old friends and making new ones.I am planning on attending if things work out and will hope to weigh in a nice limit each day. Ill also enjoy “the local flavor” of the surrounding area. Each town has a story…….just saying.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
