I tried to search for this with no luck. I have a dumb bilge question. I have an new puma I am still learning. What is the function of the auto button on my bilge? Wont the bilge work on its own with the float valve if I forget to turn on my bilge? The manual button I understand but its not auto if I have to turn it on. I am thinking I am missing something real easy here. Thanks

The float will not turn on the bilge unless you have it set to Auto. The switch for auto and manual will work with the master power off.

thanks for the reply. Guess that means I should always make sure the automatic function is always on so I know if I am taking on water or forget the drain plug!

Or if your fishing on Lake Livingston this past saturday when it rained 6 inches of water on 4 hours… At one point it seemed as if the bilge pump kicked on and stayed on for ever…

If you are concerned with water in the bilge it would be a good idea. Though you should not need it unless it is raining, or you leave it in the water overnight. Things can lodge on the auto bilge and leave the auto on so that is switched.

ThankS BCB now that makes sense to me why its switched. Had that same problem happen to a buddy. I was concerned this past weekend when I fished a tourney all day in the rain and I kept waiting for the bilge to kick in and never did. Also, adding the rubber seals for my compartment latches helped. I finally had dry rod compartments.
