I have an 03 ftd that Ive had for a while with no real electrical issues and bilge pumps are not working in manual or auto. All other pumps/switches work. I thought it was cartridges but after a swap, no change. Original cartridges also work perfectly when connected direct to the battery. When I press the bilge button on the a10 panel, the light turns on and I can hear the relay click but nothing happens. I did have a broken wire on the auto float early this year, but everything worked fine for months after replacing the float. Im looking for suggestions on where the issue could be and possibly a wiring diagram so I can start probing the a10 connector to nail down the issue. Thanks in advance!
Try a reboot of the A-10 first. Go under the dash and unplug it from the back for a few minutes, and then plug it back in. Sometimes rebooting resolves some of those panel issues.
No change.
We think its a ground wire possibly on the rear terminal block assembly. Try running a separate ground wire to the pump cartridges ground and plugging in the positive wire to see if the switching is worki ng from the dash. A voltmeter would test this easier if you have one and know how to use it.
Ground wire should be easy to check. Hopefully that is it as that would be an easy fix. If it is not, I am familiar with a voltmeter and would like to confirm the panel is working. Is there a pin out diagram available for the 3×5 a10 connector so I can verify I am getting 12v coming from the panel when the switch is activated? Thanks!

Thanks!smbassman, the pump wires have connectors that are easily removed so you can disconnect at the pump to check for voltage from the A10. Get a friend to switch while you watch the meter. Then work with your ground jumper to determine if you have a ground problem. This is the most likely problem. Good luck with your troubleshooting.Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!
Not sure if there is a wiring diagram available, but as I recall the bilge pump wires are brown or brown/white striped, so you can figure out the pin from that.
Ive confirmed no voltage at the two connectors bilge pump terminals. I did not try grounding directly to the battery though, but I will. I was hoping to have the pin out so when I dig into it tonight, I can also verify Ive got a good connection from the panel to the connector.
Ground wire directly to the battery terminal did not resolve the issue. So I headed to the back of the A10 with the info from Sparker. I am partially color blind so wire colors are not the best decoder for me, but after breaking rule #1(asking my wife for help in the garage) I was told which wire was brown and brown w/ white strip. After my wife left, I discovered another wire that I think is also brown but was hidden behind the small amount of wire bundle that was visible without crawling under the dash. So I think there are 2 brown wires and one brown w/white strip. With the ground probe from my meter firmly touching the black wire terminal the whole time, I probed the brown w/ white strip wire and was reading roughly 5 volts regardless of the bilge switch selection. Both brown wires read 0V in all bilge switch positions. As another check, I propped up the float switch and probed the 3 wires again. All 3 (br w/white, br, br) read 0 volts through all switch positions. I cant figure out why the br w/white wire read 5v initially as it never read that again after lifting the auto float switch and lowering it So that is where Im at. I am now 95% convinced the A10 panel is the issue even though I can hear and feel the relay switching. I just hate replacing parts hoping it is the solution. Also – sorry for tying up this owners board with all this. I know a phone call would be more efficient, but I have a hard time getting free to call during normal working hours.
The terminal block on the back of the boat has caused a many of headaches. I would loosen the screws s little and retighten them this might be enough to make up a connection. Back in the spring my a10 panel acted similar to yours. I was just fixing to buy one. By chance I discovered my trouble was in the terminal block wiring. Cleaned all the connections .problem was solved. Might be worth a detailed inspection.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
