Anyone here drilled the holes for the black light jacks? If so where did you put them? Im about to install mine but want to make sure I put them in the right spot. Ive only got one shot at it
I had these on my old caracal. I only used 1 on each side about midship. I would suggest rigging it and placing the light or lights in various places down the gunnel before drilling. I would suggest using a on off on switch . The black plugs used to cover the holes will turn white if you dnt. I had a lot off trouble with moisture in the phone jack sockets. Also I would soldier all my power and ground connections. on my current p2 I elected just adding 2 12volts outlets which both have a power shut off. Though I still on use one light which I find ample.but thats just my preference.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
Ive got a p4 and Im running 1 glowmaxx just strapped to the handrail currently but its just not enough light for me up front. I thought about mounting one beside the troller cause its just really not enough room on the top cap the way its shaped. I just dont know if its gonna blind whoever is in the back
I always used a sloan piggy back for yrs. But I let it go with the old cat. I purchase the new full moon with the green light. Its bright!. Though I see boats with 2 all the time. I just prefer one in the middle mainly due to bugs. And the full moon light is way brighter than the older sloan I had. The full moon has little cups and sits perfectly on my gunnel. That was the reason I added the 12 volt outlet on each gunnel from bcb. It gave me a little more versatility. About location. Over the phone jack style. Just one opinion though. Prior to drilling reach back to see if there are wires etc in the way. There is room on my P4 for mounting but wires run in the upper gunnel area. I presume thats where your planning to mount. On a side note I would recommend checking out the night fishion system. It replaces rub rail insert, LEDs are drilled into it. Best money Ive spent on my boat, better than new graphs. I night fish a lot and that system super easy and out of the way, no wires, no mounts.
That was my original plan to go with the rubrail lights but everyone I fish with run the moonlites, punishers ect.. Whats the cost of the nightfishon and does it fit good in a cat?
in the rub-rail and most dont notice them during the day also put the navigation lights in the nav lights are bright i could of gone smaller on them
Thats a good looking setup jbass what brand are those? And does it light up the bank being all black?
I have the standard system, if memory serves me correct it was around $1200 for the system. The rub rail inserts are built to order, on mine the center tube was removed and replaced with their kit. There were 3 switched strips(port, dock lights, starboard), everything prewired through the inside of tube, with pig tails ready to run to switches. I only drilled two holes through boat behind rubrail insert, ran wires to cover panel where TM is and mounted the 3 rocker switches there. Super easy install. I like the white lights up front, its saved me from running into things several times since it illuminates the water in front of you. Also handy when pulling up to shore to get a stuck lure. The blue lights help light up bank on nights where there is a moon. On a moonless night you wouldnt need them. The moon glow lights are wired in with that side of the boat so the entire side goes on/off with the switch.
Install video should clear up any questions
