Blew a hub this afternoon on my 2011 Sabre FTD trailer…

Headed out for my weekly Wednesday evening tournament and when I stopped to get ice, noticed the “Vault” cap was missing, grease was everywhere, there was a bad burned grease smell, and the wheel had a bit of a cant to it. Luckily, I stopped for ice next door to a marina, so the boat and trailer are sitting there until they can see about getting parts for it in the morning. The desk guy who wrote it up didnt seem familiar with the Vault hubs, so Im a bit worried about them being able to fix it. Anything I should know to help them out? Trailmaster trailers is local, so thats likely where theyll start with finding parts. It sounds like your having is repaired locally and the technician more than likely is familiar with Vault. These also have a 5 year warranty to the original owner, with an extendable 5 more years. BCB

Thanks for the info! Is this something they can rebuild, or will I need a whole new end unit? No, it probably failed due to line at the ramp. Check them all, repair what needs it.

New thought… the new idler may be less money than a rebuild, or very close to it.

No they are for this thread, those end units with arms are called idlers.

Was able to track down the vault cap, and the marina got the rest of the parts. Hoping they can get it back together by Friday for my club tournament this weekend. In retrospect, feeling like I should have just bought the whole end unit and swapped it out myself, probably would have been $50-70 cheaper than the rebuild…lol.Speaking of, how hard is installing a new end unit with brakes?
