I was curious if you guys could give me some ideas to clean up and older hull. I was wondering if you know and tips or wsebsites or products that would help to whiten up an older yellow hull. Also the clear coat must be peeling back because the red gel flake on the tops are turning cloudy around the edges. Any ideas for that? I appreciate it guys. Thanks.
One thing you can do is take a 50 percent bleach and water mix and place paper towels on the hull wet and try to keep them wet and the bleach will actually pull the staining out then go back on wax the area. Its a slow process but it works. I use this on rust areas in floors and have used it on my 2 offshore boats from hooks etc. You can also hit it with a magic eraser prior to putting the bleach solution on the hull to knock off the gross contaminants. Good Luck
To me Id get some 3m rubbing compound and find a spot to see what happens. I cant remember if white has a clear finish on top of it. I dont believe it does. As for the flake areas Id do the same in an area and see. I know if its deep here you may need clear coat. After the 3m Id hit it with a lighter compound and then some wax.C.O.D. Jr. III
Rust is a tough one! We use DOW Scrubbing Bubbles on the carpeting and then we scrub it, though air time and use afterwards is the answer. You can use Coca Cola on the rust also and scrub it some. Yes, Coca Cola! BCB
any carpet cleaning co. or carpet cleaning supply house will have a rust remover for carpet. The best thing ive found is a dry cleaners supply product called rustgo. ALL of it will be something u want to use with gloves. A company called prochem makes a gelled rust remover that works real well. check around locally for a dry cleaning supply house and see if you can get your hands on some rustgo its good stuff. use it sparingly and dont get i on your skin.
Thanks for all the help guys. Also, jchaney, my grandfather used hull magic and your correct it works like a charm, the only problem is I cant seem to find it anymore. Any suggestions?
