I am in search of the BEST boat made! Is that a Cat and why? Thanks everyone for your input. I think Phil gave the answers I was looking for. One thing is for sure, These guys are passionate about their CATS!! BCB… You are right, a bunch of people have opinions about your product, and they are all good!!Last edited by busboy on April 2nd, 2009, 6:01 am, edited 2 times in total.
Ask any questions you have and do your homework. We appreciate anyone considering a BCB, though above all else get the boat that is going to make you the most satisfied and happy, no matter the brand. There are plenty of folks on here with answers and opinions. Just figure out your questions and fire away. Have a good evening! BCB
IMO.. I have owned another brand and rode in just about all of them Bass Cat is the best boat on the water. They are great riding and very fast. They have excellent customer service and stand behind their product 100%. They offer a boat for everyone if you need a 20ft tourney rig that has tons of storage and wull run 75-80mph or if you want a smaller boat to just fish out of they cover the entire market. My favorite think about a Bass Cat is when im runnin in rough water i never wonder what bolts are backing out or what is working its was loose and i will ahve to fix when i get home. I use to always wonder in my old boat. Bass Cat thinks about what they are doing and what the baot will be put thru on the water. Bass Cats are the best IMO and one tough ride.
Look at 5-10 year old Cats and compare to 5-10 year old other brands. Note the finish, amount of stress cracks etc. try to talk to a higher up at another company and see how quick they get to you. Who won JD powers for how many years running? Watch the boards and count number of complaints here or on bassboatcentral.com compared to other brands. If by chance you find any see how quickly they are resolved. Go drive the size you or looking at and compare to the others in the same size. these are what i looked at and it made my decision very easy to get into the 09 Puma!
If you keep a boat for a long time like I do, BCB is the way to go. I do not know where you are, but I can show you my 1994 model pII and let you see how they hold up in the long run. Russell
I can tell you that I am a 61 year old fat guy from MS who is diabetic and doesnt have the equilibrium that I used to. I have owned smaller boats and different brand boats. I fish mostly local small club tournaments and by myself on local lakes. I have fished out of most other types of boats and I can tell you that when I went fishing with my buddy the first time in his 97 Pantera II i was sold on BassCat for life. I sold my short boat and bought a 94 PII fished out of it 6 years and then bought a 2000 Cougar. I am not afraid of getting thrown out or stumbling far enough to fall out. It is great to spend all day in this boat and although I wont ever be able to buy a new one MY new 2000 is my retirement boat. Always BassCat. Mike
I agree with Bass Cat on the part of drive every kind you are interested in before you purchase. Fact is I owned a Cobra, Ranger and a Bass Tron in my career. Some of my close friends I fish with have everything from a new Triton. New Skeeter and new Champion and I still look forward to being back in my Puma. This is my second Puma it is an 08 in mint condition. If the better half allows it I will be buying a new Puma Ftd in a few years. Everyone from the very top of the ladder being Ron Pierce and Rick Pierce all the way down to the guy that cuts the grass at there lot treats us all as we are all part of a big happy family. When you do your homework on a boat you should look at the overall picture. Every major boat brand I mentioned has been sold or traded at one point or another, Bass Cat is still owned by the very family that opened its doors. That speaks highly to me about the comitment they have made to this product. The most often heard complaints on here are of a guy that ordered a boat Monday and wants to know if it will be ready Friday. All boats now days are made with great products to some extent and I am not bashing anyone of them. Just do your home work before you decide. We are very biased as owners because we do know we own the very best boats on the market bar none . I would put my Puma up against any other ride on the market in any kind of weather. The following facts may be wrong but if memory serves me correctly then here they are: Ranger, Champion, and Stratos are now Genmar owned. Legend was made by the purchase of Hawk Cobra was designed by the same man that designed Champion and Hawk but failed to stay open. Bass Cat first built in in 1971 in a garage by Ron Pierce. He still comes to work there most everyday. Rick Pierce was born into this company and is still dedicated to expanding it . Says alot about the saying .When you buy a Bass Cat you are part of the family. My mistake Youngblood. I typed it and did not read it.Last edited by Ok Bigbass on March 31st, 2009, 1:46 pm, edited 6 times in total.
Ok Bigbass…. you have Rick and Ron mixed up…Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
Bottom line is there is no “best boat ” made. It is all in the eyes of the beholder. I love my Puma. When I owned other brands, I loved them too. I dont have to justify to anyone why my boat is the “one” Do yourself a favor and go look and compare. If you buy a Cat, great if not, then that is your decision. In addition to building great looking and performing boats, BassCat is comitted to customer. If that is for you welcome to the family. If not, enjoy your purchase. If we all owned Cats, it would be pretty boring.
What do you consider “best”? IE: What are YOU looking for out of a bassboat?
