There are various courses of action that solve this, and each boat is different. First did it do this with a Trophy? Have you tried a Tempest? Did you put a Fury on it, or did it come with one? In 2008 we found a Cougar FTD that simply ran best with a 25 or 26 Tempest. Nothing else seemed to hook this one up like it needed to. Also engine heights are critical, and on the newer hulls we have them designed to run way lower than most think they should be. So a lower jackplate setting is our suggestion. Though propeller and other things are factors too. Box loading is a factor. DO you have your heaviest gear in the front box? If so then you may need to reorganize for your boats characteristics. Other than running in skinny (shallow) water, we would not put a hydraulic jack plate on one today. We never have been proponents of hydraulic plates, though they have their uses. We like simplicity and less things to go wrong.
