It it not a wax, but Ive used ProTec marine sealant for years, and really prefer it. Easier to a apply than any wax, and does a great job of actually sealing the gelcoat against stains and dirt.Mike Whitten/Germantown, TN
Ive tried many different waxes and cleaners over the year. Best Ive ever used, and have used for years now– is Waxing Frenzy.Check it out on the web. Amazing stuff.
alright…..thanks for the response…just want that smooth finish im always feeling on these brand new boats and wondered how they got it
Do a search on here and FAQ, there are a LOT of recommendations/suggestions regarding keeping your glass in good shape including recommendations from BCB. Good reading.
The 3M liquid wax is very good and cheap. Can be found at any Academy or WalMart for less than 10 bucks.
Meguiars Flagship Wax for boats.I use BassBoat saver quite a bit as well but you just cant beat a good coat of waxC.O.D. Jr. III

I like the Maquiars Flagship wax too. Once a year is all you need. Wipe down with white vinegar/distilled water during the season to remove spots/water lines.
What is the best wax to use for boats? any special techniques to applying it?
There are so many options. Id imagine everyone has their own opinion. I havent waxed my 2015 Caracal yet. I do use Bass Boat Saver, every time, after taking the boat out of the water, as well as Pro Tec products. Im very happy with both. In reality, it probably doesnt make much difference what brand you use. I did the same on my 09 Cougar. It looked brand new when I traded it for the Caracal.
I did some testing when I got my Pro Tec sealant a few years ago, and it performed better than one of the brand name products that I had previously been using. I am an advocate of the Pro Tec products. After two coats of their sealant every three months or so, I just use Eagle Marine Wax as U Dry after coming off the water. I believe that proper use of the sealant is more important than what wax you use afterwards (if any).
Pro-Tec Sealant Polish is a polymer sealant not a wax. With that being said, wax doesnt last near as long as Sealant Polish. Wax melts at 188F and polymers dont begin to break down till 360F. Therefore better protection in the sun from UV. Pro-Tec Sealant Polish bonds to your surface, wax sits on top of the surface. Pro-Tec is absolutely the easiest to apply and remove. That is just a few of the benefits from using Pro-Tec Products…..plus we have a BassCat on the front of the bottle! Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions. Pro-Tec is available thru BassCat parts dept. Pro-Tec Productswww.protecproducts.com
Pro-Tec thumbs up.
Pro Tec is the best thing that one can use on their boat. It seals the pores in the gel coat that will prevent dirt, etc. from penetrating thus aiding against oxidation in the future. Ive been using since 2001. As said above…..very easy to put on and very easy to take off!
