They are intended for someone with OCD like myself. The smashed carpet wears me out, and the little deck saver looks like its supposed to be there. Purely an OCD thing tho.
I compromised and screwed a stainless washer to the deck in that spot. Helps me make sure the cork rod handles are not about to have a chunk gouged out when i stow the TM with just a quick glance.
