Bobs pedestal plugs

I used a rubber mallet. once they go in about an inch, it becomes much easier, the o-ring compresses.

Not so easy to remove(I have only taken the plug out once).Had to use 2 long flat nose screw drivers (one on each side) and pry it out by walking it out a little at a time.Once you get it about an inch and a half up it is easier. They are made to stay in, not to swap in and out frequently. I never use a front seat, so keeping the plug in works for me. Had to get use to stepping the small dome, I kept thinking I was stepping on a bait.

So i have a 13 p2. The pedstal at the console was definitly leaking through the pedstal hole when i purchased it. That pedstal on the p2 comes apart inside the box. When i rains hard i was getting water intrusion through that hole. I simply took a cup of water and poured it right in the hole and sure enough in the box it went. Being a machinist i made my plug from stainless with 2 orings. I used a 3/4″ reamer and run through the nylon insert then made the plug to fit mine is snug. I used plumbers grease. Though snug it goes in and comes out with minamal effort. Cool? Yea! Serves a purpose? In my cases it stopped water intrusion! 1.5 yrs later not a drop.
