Not really, we just crush them down tight. There is a point where you should stop squeezing, though with all the aspects of the 1>transom, 2>adhesive, 3>hull fiberglass, 4>deck, 5> aluminum plate, 6>jack plate, 7>washers and 8>interior liner wall, you just have a lot of items to compress that much of it has some travel.
