If this shoe fits than damned well wear it—-When you borrow someone elses boat you should have the utmost respect for the boat owner and appreciate the fact that he has lent the boat to you. To use someone elses personal property and abuse it is beyond comprehension. Man your ass up and take responsibility if you have damaged/ scratched/ or abused the rig and tell the owner about it. To bring a rig back empty on gas–with no oil in the resevoir–dirty and filthy—-give me a break. Bet you wouldnt appreciate being treated this way—but than again maybe you are too selfish and ignorant to know the rules. AGAIN—IF THIS SHOE FITS SHAME ON YOU
Years ago I let a friend borrow my boat. I was on pins and needles the whole time the boat was gone. I will never again loan my boat to anyone, nor will I borrow a boat from a friend. Its just not worth it
Nope not worth it!!!! both parties expectations are not remotely close!!!!
What the heck, I put $5 back in, thats $2 more than was in when I got it- just what do you expect ,stimulus money!!?BAYOU BANDIT
LAD, You are one of the nicest people I know. If someone has you Teed off then I know they did you wrong. Especially if they brought it back dirty. I would rather my boat be empty of fuel than dirty!! Chris Coupel Paulina, la.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
I used to maintain a boat for a gentleman and he eventually sold it to me He kept his boat at his camp on Toledo Bend near where I live and allowed me to use the rig on a few occassions and take care of it when he was not there. Then, when he would come to town, I would take him fishing in his boat. I took care of that rig as if it was my own and respected it as if I had paid for it. He had some family come up to stay at his camp for a weekend and use his boat. They did more damage in one weekend than he or I did in the first 5yrs of that boats life on Toledo Bend and they showed no remorse whatsoever. I now still on that boat…it is 16yrs old and still the only damage on it is what they did. It is amazing how careless some people can be with other peoples property.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Been there done that – Fd up a ladder, still cant figure out how – I spent $250ish on the new ladder. Good friend is worth way more than that.
LAD, I know how you feel. I thought maybe I was the only one that had so called friends like that. Cost Me $200.00 for them to use MY boat. It wont happen twice. Lesson learned hard, is a lesson you wont forget. Ive got 4 cats, But I want the oldest one (my avatar) to be taken care of, like its the last boat I will ever own. I wasnt even told about the scars they put on it trying to load it on the trailer. Still makes me mad to think about it. Really sorry someone would do that. Its just not worth it I agree with the above. I would never borrow a friends boat, nor would I loan my boat to a friend. Friendships are too valuable to take the chance on losing them due to something going wrong. I know that some can do it and there wouldnt be an issue. I just dont want to take that chance. Ive got a good buddy who has a big center console Cape Horn, we fish out of it all the time on the Gulf. Hes always said, that anytime I want to go out and he cant go, to just come over, hook it up and go. I just would never do that.
Borrowed my dads boat last summer. On the way back to NC from the Chesapeake Bay was rear ended by an 18 wheeler on I-95. Total loss of the boat and truck. Man does he let me have it each time I talk to him about buying us another beach boat. The only good thing about it was he was in the vehicle with me. He is 72 years old and still loves to fish. I know I dont have many years left but each time we hit the water together I am like a child in the candy store. Jake
