Topic: Bow mounted HB question?

Just got to looking at my new boat and noticed on my bow mounted HB 999 there are 2 wires going into the connector block that screws into back of unit. No issues there. Question is there is another single wire coming out of wire hole that has an odd shape and 3 pins in it with no place on back of HB unit to plug into. Whats this wire for? Thought it might go in connector block but there is no plug in that matches this 3 pin wire. Thanks for your help if anyone knows what this is for.

I have the same wire on the bow of my 09. I think Phil may be right. I just taped it to the other wires, that connect to my HB 858.

It might be the ethernet possibly? I know HB changed how the ethernet connects on the 999,899, and 1199

Thanks, I guess I should go out and plug everything in and turn them on and see if they are connected? Ive got an 1198 in the console and 999 on bow. Should be able to create a way point on one of them and see if it transfers to the other? Thanks again. Murph

I also have the same loose wire (3pin). It is the transducer wire for the transducer made in my 101 Minnkota. They disconnect that transducer when you have a side imaging or down imaging unit. Which requires a different transducer. I called Humminbird about this when I noticed it and thats what they told me.

We believe this in the in hull transducer in most cases.

Ive got the same thing on by 2014 Puma FTD. I think they epoxy the transducer into hull of boat before they realize its suppose to have a trolling motor transducer.
