My up trim switch on the bow panel was acting up so I replaced it this weekend and noticed a good amount of corrosion on all my switches at the bow panel (boat is 2 years old but sits outside well covered). Im going to replace everything up there to prevent any issues but had two questions:1. is this amount of corrosion normal?2. Anything I can do to help prevent this? My bow panel plate (Eyra) seems a little warped but the seams were silliconed well so I dont believe I was getting much water in there. Would replacing the actual plastic panel help alleviate this? Thanks for the help!
Cover all connections and switches with Dielectric Grease, just get some good brand like locktite, etc. Its just good insurance against corrosion and ensures a good connection. Repels moisture as well.
My switches on my 2010 PIV were ok when I switched the “motor Up” switch to inboard so it is easier to access when needed :-0I agree that a good protectant covering the connections helps a lot
