My 520 on the bow cuts itself off every time I crank the big motor and make a run. I know someone posted a similar question the other day, but it would cut off out of the blue. Mine only does it when I make a run.

how old are your batteries? mine was doing it and the guy at the shop told me to replace the battery. havent had problem since. he said the motor was drawing so much to crank it didnt leave enough for the graphs and mine will cut off when voltage gets low. im sure someone more qualified will chime in

Its only about a year old. I thought about that also but it seems like it would kill the one on the console as well if that was the problem.

The voltage drop is a possibility as your bow unit is farther from your batteries. The farther you get from your power source, the greater the drop. This definitely can be worse due to a weak battery and most dealers put a 24 series 1000 cca battery in, whereas we prefer a horse of a battery in 27 or 31 series AGM style. If the battery checks out running a dedicated wire to that unit from the starting battery will alleviate your problem. if you run dedicated wire dont forget to turn it offdone that too, that story should be on walk of shame post as well

BCB, I would like to leave this on the acc. power source. Is there any chance that this is a corrosion issue and I could just rewire back to the acc. power source?Lol Ive done that before too loanshark.

i dont know the size of the wire bass cat uses, but another option is to upgrade the size of your wire from acc. to your unit to help with power loss

Check your wiring connections too, from the connector to junction box. Just a little contamination could easily attribute to a 1v drop.

We think your engine battery is the culprit and if you double check that you will probably resolve this issue. What engine battery do you have now?
