As some of you know Up Nort in Wisconsin we do not see all that the Bass World offers. Ive never seen a Legend up close and personal, So you all know Me and My Fiance had on our Bass Cat Cat Eyes pro type shirts, so they knew what we liked, anyways I was told about the huge boxes, the Incredible Hull design, Finished rear tank area, and the Gel seats. I was impressed with the Memory type of Gel inserts in the Deans Seats, Im sure theirs a reason BCB doesnt use them, but they felt incredible. The Rod lockers on the 211, were a 1/3 or so shallower than our 2008 Cougar FTD, the center box setup was tiny, boy do I see why you guys like the BCB storage system, so much bigger and more useful. The dash was quite cheesy, very cheap looking, well built, yet looked like it was ordered online,no passion or thought. The rear deck was similar to the front in comparison. The rear gas tank area was beautiful, im not sure of the fuction besides the clean look, which I also liked. The fade gel and gel work was also beautiful, everything I liked was the same things Ive read about. Im not here to rip, just to SHARE. Im sure its a well built, well thought out boat, but guys, I see why open minded smart fisherman buy BCB, I also see why BCB is probably the HOTTEST Bass Boat company on the planet, they are Red Hot…….With the recent bankruptcies it has made consumers “look around” and the ones online keep on reading and hearing BCB, so it makes since. I heard some Hilarious comments at the booth, and was quite amused at the end of the demonstration. I wish the best for Legend, and I cannot wait to get some Kittys instock for the Summer fishing season, Im gonna be out in full effect. Your Signature …
Too bad they cant engineer their own hull design. That 25 year old Ranger hull they are using is a little outdated. Why the finished bilge? Seems like a waste of money and labor costs to me.
Brannon,We dont like to discuss these topics. And we wish this were not placed here, though we do understand what you are saying better than any others here can. Still we wish it were continued as silent. Though since it is here we also feel we should comment. First we will address those items selected, then those other we have to assume you tagged as “Hilarious comments” in the booth. As we too have heard those second hand comments. Finished rear tank area, > There is no way to fiberglass this to the lower hull, and thus it has to depend on floating on putty blobbed in the hull and floor area to seat the fuel tank liner. We also could not glass our rear seat post down with this set up, and we suppose they only top bolt theirs and we like to reduce deck flex. and the Gel seats. I was impressed with the Memory type of Gel inserts in the Deans Seats, Im sure theirs a reason BCB doesnt use them, but they felt incredible. >The inserts are less than 1/4″ thick (thin) and have little benefit. We played with these and showed them to the dealer base in 2008, answering why we did not use them at that time. They are of no gain once the gel seats. Everything move away from the highest point of impact and they hard pan. The gel inserts are only a sales gimmick. We have played with them and they serve no purpose. Though if youa re actually holding the gel inserts in your hands we do think they impress much more than they offer. We are still working on other inserts. The dash was quite (edited), very (edited) looking, well built, yet looked like it was ordered online,no passion or thought. They did use a plastic inserted dash before and we do give them credit for escaping that, though we also, while flattered, get a little tired of the continual incorporation of offshoots of our techniques and concepts trying to be integrated into a boat that apparently has tried to replicate many of the BCB thoughts. Though we do not see the substance in those concepts as the ownership is not focal at the factory and live out of the area. The fade gel and gel work was also beautiful, everything I liked was the same things Ive read about. Im not here to rip, just to SHARE. We will not ever integrate the faded gel coat as they are difficult to repair for those impacts, as were custom painted vehicles in the 1980s. This was used in the 1980s by Glasstream to not require stripe lines and taping, fading flakes together by just changing the pot colors and thus the colors in a way melt together in the change. We never cared for it in the Glasstream models, though we do understand how it is a cheaper to change colors as there is no taping. We just cant bring ourselves to think anything Glasstream did was a good construction method. Though it does look sharp in come combinations,a s it even did on some streams. With the recent bankruptcies it has made consumers “look around” and the ones online keep on reading and hearing BCB, so it makes since. I heard some Hilarious comments at the booth, and was quite amused at the end of the demonstration. I wish the best for Legend,The proximity of the factory is parasitic as is the marketing campaign and these are our issues. We have long tried to stand on our own two feet and have managed to do so. It would be easy for us to drop a sledge hammer on all of our competitors of late, especially those which you mention in the “look around” statement above. We have assembled more knowledge of that failure than most anyone has. Though we wish all of those companies the best as they do employ individuals and boost our industry back to a sustainable level and the local area as well. Though we also wish that some companies would also stand on their own two feet and not overly concern themselves with comments about other brands. Our best competition in Triton, Skeeter and even Ranger may be aggressive and offer us challenges, though they also all three try to do it their way and we respect that. Other fledgling companies seem to be leaning more towards implications of issues and direct comparisons without our company having a method to combat those in those one on one conversations and implied topics. We have heard other comparisons which instead of discussing the position of the opposing company through dealers, which insinuate a position of ours. We sure dont want to be a part of that, though if your talking about your neighbor, then you probably have more of your own to worry about. Thus we wont get involved in throwing stones in what we term are glass houses. If you spent any time around the staff then we can assume that there were plenty of glass house scenarios presented. We just want to continue to stand on our 39 year heritage and hope that we can do so for another 39 years. The comments have been reptitive over time and we continue to just add our two cents when we wish that they would focus on their own product and not us as a company. Though as we have recently said, at least we have them worried. Two new model introductions and as always more in the future will keep them on their toes. Well put as always.
Very well said
Dont know if the poster intended to create controversy with this posting but it reminds me of another poster that asked “Is a Basscat worth $12000 more?” on another website. BCBs response in both cases has greatly increased my respect for the BassCat brand. Not only because of what they said in their response but the fact that they did respond. Dont know of any manufacturer that does that. Because of that I ordered a PIV yesterday. Now Im gonna have to come up with a new moniker. Maybe KramrsCat. Ok, maybe not KramrsCat.
Kramr , Congrats on your purchase , your going to love it and also welcome to the family
Kramr, So you know I never Intentionally try to start controversy, even the Merc Pro XS Vs. Etec HO posts of mine, those are just having fun. My reasoning for the post was simply to Share my experience on the other side of the game. I also felt very honored in their booth to be representing BCB (im sure BCB loved that, Ha,Ha,Ha,) and I wanted folks to see some of the differences that I saw. In no way was it a Slam to Legend, they seem to have their Position in bass boats. BCB, I had a A.D.D. moment when I posted last night, I should have thought 1st, If youd like to Delete its your board. I was just shocked most of all on how Big the 20ft 4inch Cougar FTD is compared to a 21ft Boat, Bigger decks, and storage by a mile, but now im repeating myself. BrannonYour Signature …
