I have a 1996 Pantara II with a 150EFI Merc and here is my problem I just purchased the new dash guage cluster from BassCat. Everything was very easy to install untill……. The purple wire has a tag that says “hook up to purple wire on key switch” Brn/white wire to key switch. There are 2 purple wires on my keyswitch. When hooked up to either one it blowes the fuse in the motor(just above starter contactor AGC20) to trim up or down and kills the ignition switch. There is no direct Brn/white wire of the keyswitch. There is one however that comes out of the main wiring harness but is not directed to the keyswitch. What does the purple wire “power up” or what is the purple wire for? What does the brn/white wire “power up” or what is the wire for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
