Okay, my BP101 has performed flawlessly since purchase in 01. Today, while on the water my Recirc Pump came on all by itself, and then shut off after a few minutes, then comes back on again, then off, etc. When I turn the Master Power switch OFF and back ON, within a few minutes the Recirc Pump starts running by itself again!! Is this a terminal block or other related connection issue? Help me solve this electrical gremlin issue!
You have a BP-100 unit, and we suggest an exchange program for a new A-Ten units and gauges. We would get your unit back, and you would get the replacement parts. BCB
How does that exchange program work? Does it offset the cost of the A-10 unit much? Thanks.
Bump for BC, cuz I know some are on vaca!
It could be corrosion in the AMP cannon plug, and it could be something else. It could be an issue with a compass or pressure sensor and temps also. Though we do think removing the cannon plug and letting it repower would be the most likely to fix that on rebooting the processor. If that doesnt work, then you can hook the recirculator to the accessory, and add a timer to that switch. Easiest fix and pretty simple. Just adding a potentiometer and timer pod, using the Acc switch to turn it on. It would be label Acc, though you would know and could put a sticky label on it. BCB
Thanks for the reply! My BP101 has the barometric pressure gauge, no compass. SO, if a temp probe has gone south, it can cause gremlins with the rest of the BP101 functionality? Would applying a dab of dielectric grease on the cannon pins help with connectivity at the cannon plug? Anything I should check for at the terminal block? If all else fails, does BC parts sell timers and potentiometers for me to attatch to ACC switch? Again, thanks for every bit of your insight and guidance!
Yes we do sell the aeration timing setup. And you are correct in the gremlins, as those faulty signals can lead to misreadings and digital error from analog interference. Since you dont have a compass, you should have a water pressure reading and that is another factor similar. If things are not working you are better off unplugging those components. BCB
Now when I turn off the MAIN POWER rocker switch, my BP101 panel stays on, what would allow that to happen? The panel is showing MPH, RPMS, and all other displays, but the push panel functionality for all of my pumps and horn have disappeared. Last week I unhooked the AMP cannon plug and looked for any corrosion, none. I dabbed a little dielectric grease on the pins and re-connected the cannon plug. Volts read 12.4, so I assume its not a battery or power issue. Any fuses I should check or other hidden connections? Lastly, who still services the BP101 panel? Approx. cost? Frustrated in Dallas!
The Front Navigation Switch is probably on. That prevents the dash from turning off. Dont worry your not the first on that one. As for the indicators, you can add a separate strip of LED lights if is only the indicators that are not functioning. Those would be tied into the leads running to the pumps which would indicate they were on. That would be fairly simple to install just below the dash with a small hanging flat of plastic that would hold those LED lights. The is not a real issue if the dash functions, the lower pins that function those LCR segments may have broken the pins on the glass and not be getting power. So the addition of LED strips to the dash would do nicely. It sounds like you have power to the dash and it is probably working. If the pumps and acc. function when you turn them on, then the option mentioned above we would use. If you lost the lower half of the dash, then that is a board driver that has failed. BCB

BCB As a follow up question…….I have the bp 100 on my Eyra. Got a wiring harness short in the engine last weekend and noticed the speedo/tach was not working(blank) when this happened. After using the fire extinguisher and feeling a little more comfortable, turned on briefly the master power. The settings returned to 0.0 and all functions seem to work. If everything pumps and bilge wise work, would there be a big need to repair speedo/tach if I have psi gauge to monitor water pressure, on a computer this old? Thanks BCB……96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
That is probably the voltage regulator failing, which took the power over the limits and burned a harness. If your tach goes down, check your incoming voltage and often you will see it spiked. This indicates a faulty voltage regulator. BCB
